ヨエル書	Joel 1	1
1	1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.	ペトエルの子ヨエルに臨んだ／主の言葉。
1	2Hear this, you elders, And give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has anything like this happened in your days, Or even in the days of your fathers?	老人たちよ、これを聞け。すべてこの地に住む者よ、耳を傾けよ。あなたがたの世、またはあなたがたの先祖の世に／このような事があったか。
1	3 Tell your children about it, Let your children tell their children, And their children another generation.	これをあなたがたの子たちに語り、子たちはまたその子たちに語り、その子たちはまたこれを後の代に語り伝えよ。
1	4 What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; What the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten; And what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.	かみ食らういなごの残したものは、群がるいなごがこれを食い、群がるいなごの残したものは、とびいなごがこれを食い、とびいなごの残したものは、滅ぼすいなごがこれを食った。
1	5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; And wail, all you drinkers of wine, Because of the new wine, For it has been cut off from your mouth.	酔える者よ、目をさまして泣け。すべて酒を飲む者よ、うまい酒のゆえに泣き叫べ。うまい酒はあなたがたの口から断たれるからだ。
1	6 For a nation has come up against My land, Strong, and without number; His teeth are the teeth of a lion, And he has the fangs of a fierce lion.	一つの国民がわたしの国に攻めのぼってきた。その勢いは強く、その数は計られず、その歯はししの歯のようで、雌じしのきばをもっている。
1	7 He has laid waste My vine, And ruined My fig tree; He has stripped it bare and thrown it away; Its branches are made white.	彼らはわがぶどうの木を荒し、わがいちじくの木を折り、その皮をはだかにして捨てた。その枝は白くなった。
1	8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the husband of her youth.	あなたがたは若い時の夫のために／荒布を腰にまとったおとめのように泣き悲しめ。
1	9 The grain offering and the drink offering Have been cut off from the house of the Lord; The priests mourn, who minister to the Lord.	素祭と灌祭とは主の家に絶え、主に仕える祭司たちは嘆き悲しむ。
1	10 The field is wasted, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine is dried up, The oil fails.	畑は荒れ、地は悲しむ。これは穀物が荒れはて、新しい酒は尽き、油も絶えるためである。
1	11 Be ashamed, you farmers, Wail, you vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field has perished.	小麦および大麦のために、農夫たちよ、恥じよ、ぶどう作りたちよ、泣け。畑の収穫がうせ去ったからである。
1	12 The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree-- All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.	ぶどうの木は枯れ、いちじくの木はしおれ、ざくろ、やし、りんご、野のすべての木はしぼんだ。それゆえ楽しみは人の子らからかれうせた。
1	13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; Wail, you who minister before the altar; Come, lie all night in sackcloth, You who minister to my God; For the grain offering and the drink offering Are withheld from the house of your God.	祭司たちよ、荒布を腰にまとい、泣き悲しめ。祭壇に仕える者たちよ、泣け。神に仕える者たちよ、来て、荒布をまとい、夜を過ごせ。素祭も灌祭も／あなたがたの神の家から退けられたからである。
1	14 Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the Lord your God, And cry out to the Lord.	あなたがたは断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、長老たちを集め、国の民をことごとくあなたがたの神、主の家に集め、主に向かって叫べ。
1	15 Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.	ああ、その日はわざわいだ。主の日は近く、全能者からの滅びのように来るからである。
1	16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, Joy and gladness from the house of our God?	われわれの目の前に食物は絶え、われわれの神の家から／喜びと楽しみが絶えたではないか。
1	17 The seed shrivels under the clods, Storehouses are in shambles; Barns are broken down, For the grain has withered.	種は土の下に朽ち、倉は荒れ、穀物がつきたので、穀倉はこわされる。
1	18 How the animals groan! The herds of cattle are restless, Because they have no pasture; Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment.	いかに家畜はうめき鳴くか。牛の群れはさまよう。彼らには牧草がないからだ。羊の群れも滅びうせる。
1	19 O Lord, to You I cry out; For fire has devoured the open pastures, And a flame has burned all the trees of the field.	主よ、わたしはあなたに向かって呼ばわる。火が荒野の牧草を焼き滅ぼし、炎が野のすべての木を焼き尽したからである。
1	20 The beasts of the field also cry out to You, For the water brooks are dried up, And fire has devoured the open pastures.	野の獣もまたあなたに向かって呼ばわる。水の流れがかれはて、火が荒野の牧草を焼き滅ぼしたからである

2	1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand:	あなたがたはシオンで／ラッパを吹け。わが聖なる山で警報を吹きならせ。国の民はみな、ふるいわななけ。主の日が来るからである。それは近い。
2	2 A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations.	これは暗く、薄暗い日、雲の群がるまっくらな日である。多くの強い民が／暗やみのようにもろもろの山をおおう。このようなことは昔からあったことがなく、後の代々の年にも再び起ることがないであろう。
2	3 A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them.	火は彼らの前を焼き、炎は彼らの後に燃える。彼らのこない前には、地はエデンの園のようであるが、その去った後は荒れ果てた野のようになる。これをのがれうるものは一つもない。
2	4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses; And like swift steeds, so they run.	そのかたちは馬のかたちのようであり、その走ることは軍馬のようである。
2	5 With a noise like chariots Over mountaintops they leap, Like the noise of a flaming fire that devours the stubble, Like a strong people set in battle array.	山の頂でとびおどる音は、戦車のとどろくようである。また刈り株を焼く火の炎の音のようであり、戦いの備えをした強い軍隊のようである。
2	6 Before them the people writhe in pain; All faces are drained of color.	その前にもろもろの民はなやみ、すべての顔は色を失う。
2	7 They run like mighty men, They climb the wall like men of war; Every one marches in formation, And they do not break ranks.	彼らは勇士のように走り、兵士のように城壁によじ登る。彼らはおのおの自分の道を進んで行って、その道を踏みはずさない。
2	8 They do not push one another; Every one marches in his own column. Though they lunge between the weapons, They are not cut down.	彼らは互におしあわず、おのおのその道を進み行く。彼らは武器の中にとびこんでも、身をそこなわない。
2	9 They run to and fro in the city, They run on the wall; They climb into the houses, They enter at the windows like a thief.	彼らは町にとび入り、城壁の上を走り、家々によじ登り、盗びとのように窓からはいる。
2	10 The earth quakes before them, The heavens tremble; The sun and moon grow dark, And the stars diminish their brightness.	地は彼らの前におののき、天はふるい、日も月も暗くなり、星はその光を失う。
2	11 The Lord gives voice before His army, For His camp is very great; For strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; Who can endure it?	主はその軍勢の前で声をあげられる。その軍隊は非常に多いからである。そのみ言葉をなし遂げる者は強い。主の日は大いにして、はなはだ恐ろしいゆえ、だれがこれに耐えることができよう。
2	12 "Now, therefore," says the Lord, "Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning."	主は言われる、「今からでも、あなたがたは心をつくし、断食と嘆きと、悲しみとをもってわたしに帰れ。
2	13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.	あなたがたは衣服ではなく、心を裂け」。あなたがたの神、主に帰れ。主は恵みあり、あわれみあり、怒ることがおそく、いつくしみが豊かで、災を思いかえされるからである。
2	14 Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him-- A grain offering and a drink offering For the Lord your God?	神があるいは立ち返り、思いかえして祝福をその後に残し、素祭と灌祭とを／あなたがたの神、主にささげさせられる事はないと／だれが知るだろうか。
2	15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly;	シオンでラッパを吹きならせ。断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、
2	16Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room.	民を集め、会衆を聖別し、老人たちを集め、幼な子、乳のみ子を集め、花婿をその家から呼びだし、花嫁をそのへやから呼びだせ。
2	17 Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, "Spare Your people, O Lord, And do not give Your heritage to reproach, That the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?' "	主に仕える祭司たちは、廊と祭壇との間で泣いて言え、「主よ、あなたの民をゆるし、あなたの嗣業をもろもろの国民のうちに、そしりと笑い草にさせないでください。どうしてもろもろの国民に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と／言わせてよいでしょうか」。
2	18 Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, And pity His people.	その時主は自分の地のために、ねたみを起し、その民をあわれまれた。
2	19 The Lord will answer and say to His people, "Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, And you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.	主は答えて、その民に言われた、「見よ、わたしは穀物と新しい酒と油とを／あなたがたに送る。あなたがたはこれを食べて飽きるであろう。わたしは重ねてあなたがたに／もろもろの国民のうちでそしりを受けさせない。
2	20 "But I will remove far from you the northern army, And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land, With his face toward the eastern sea And his back toward the western sea; His stench will come up, And his foul odor will rise, Because he has done monstrous things."	わたしは北から来る者をあなたがたから遠ざけ、これをかわいた荒れ地に追いやり、その前の者を東の海に、その後の者を西の海に追いやる。その臭いにおいは起り、その悪しきにおいは上る。これは大いなる事をしたからである。
2	21 Fear not, O land; Be glad and rejoice, For the Lord has done marvelous things!	地よ恐るな、喜び楽しめ、主は大いなる事を行われたからである。
2	22 Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field; For the open pastures are springing up, And the tree bears its fruit; The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.	野のもろもろの獣よ、恐るな。荒野の牧草はもえいで、木はその実を結び、いちじくの木とぶどうの木とは豊かに実る。
2	23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you-- The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month.	シオンの子らよ、あなたがたの神、主によって喜び楽しめ。主はあなたがたを義とするために秋の雨を賜い、またあなたがたのために豊かに雨を降らせ、前のように、秋の雨と春の雨とを降らせられる。
2	24 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.	打ち場は穀物で満ち、石がめは新しい酒と油とであふれる。
2	25 "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.	わたしがあなたがたに送った大軍、すなわち群がるいなご、とびいなご、滅ぼすいなご、かみ食らういなごの食った年を／わたしはあなたがたに償う。
2	26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.	あなたがたは、じゅうぶん食べて飽き、あなたがたに不思議なわざをなされた／あなたがたの神、主のみ名をほめたたえる。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
2	27 Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.	あなたがたはイスラエルのうちに／わたしのいることを知り、主なるわたしがあなたがたの神であって、ほかにないことを知る。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
2	28 "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.	その後わたしはわが霊を／すべての肉なる者に注ぐ。あなたがたのむすこ、娘は預言をし、あなたがたの老人たちは夢を見、あなたがたの若者たちは幻を見る。
2	29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.	その日わたしはまた／わが霊をしもべ、はしために注ぐ。
2	30 "And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.	わたしはまた、天と地とにしるしを示す。すなわち血と、火と、煙の柱とがあるであろう。
2	31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.	主の大いなる恐るべき日が来る前に、日は暗く、月は血に変る。
2	32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the Lord has said, Among the remnant whom the Lord calls.	すべて主の名を呼ぶ者は救われる。それは主が言われたように、シオンの山とエルサレムとに、のがれる者があるからである。その残った者のうちに、主のお召しになる者がある。

3	1 "For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,	見よ、わたしがユダとエルサレムとの幸福をもとに返すその日、その時、
3	2 I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.	わたしは万国の民を集めて、これをヨシャパテの谷に携えくだり、その所でわが民、わが嗣業であるイスラエルのために彼らをさばく。彼らがわが民を諸国民のうちに散らして、わたしの地を分かち取ったからである。
3	3 They have cast lots for My people, Have given a boy as payment for a harlot, And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink.	彼らはわが民をくじ引きにし、遊女のために少年をわたし、酒のために少女を売って飲んだ。
3	4 "Indeed, what have you to do with Me, O Tyre and Sidon, and all the coasts of Philistia? Will you retaliate against Me? But if you retaliate against Me, Swiftly and speedily I will return your retaliation upon your own head;	ツロとシドンよ、ペリシテのすべての地方よ、おまえたちは、わたしとなんのかかわりがあるか。おまえたちはわたしに報復をしようとするのか。もしおまえたちがわたしに報復しようとするなら、わたしは時をうつさず、すみやかに、おまえたちのおこないの報復をおまえたちの頭上にこさせる。
3	5 Because you have taken My silver and My gold, And have carried into your temples My prized possessions.	これはおまえたちがわたしの銀と金とをとり、わたしの貴重な宝をおまえたちの宮に携え行き、
3	6 Also the people of Judah and the people of Jerusalem You have sold to the Greeks, That you may remove them far from their borders.	またユダの人々とエルサレムの人々とをギリシヤびとに売って、その本国から遠く離れさせたからである。
3	7 "Behold, I will raise them Out of the place to which you have sold them, And will return your retaliation upon your own head.	見よ、わたしはおまえたちが売ったその所から彼らを起して、おまえたちのおこないの報復をおまえたちの頭上にこさせる。
3	8 I will sell your sons and your daughters Into the hand of the people of Judah, And they will sell them to the Sabeans, To a people far off; For the Lord has spoken."	わたしはおまえたちのむすこ娘たちをユダの人々の手に売る。彼らはこれを遠い国びとであるシバびとに売ると、主は言われる」。
3	9 Proclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up.	もろもろの国民の中に宣べ伝えよ。戦いの備えをなし、勇士をふるい立たせ、兵士をことごとく近づかせ、のぼらせよ。
3	10 Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, 'I am strong.' "	あなたがたのすきを、つるぎに、あなたがたのかまを、やりに打ちかえよ。弱い者に「わたしは勇士である」と言わせよ。
3	11 Assemble and come, all you nations, And gather together all around. Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord.	周囲のすべての国民よ、急ぎ来て、集まれ。主よ、あなたの勇士をかしこにお下しください。
3	12 "Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.	もろもろの国民をふるい立たせ、ヨシャパテの谷にのぼらせよ。わたしはそこに座して、周囲のすべての国民をさばく。
3	13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; For the winepress is full, The vats overflow-- For their wickedness is great."	かまを入れよ、作物は熟した。来て踏め、酒ぶねは満ち、石がめはあふれている。彼らの悪が大きいからだ。
3	14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.	群衆また群衆は、さばきの谷におる。主の日がさばきの谷に近いからである。
3	15 The sun and moon will grow dark, And the stars will diminish their brightness.	日も月も暗くなり、星もその光を失う。
3	16 The Lord also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake; But the Lord will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.	主はシオンから大声で叫び、エルサレムから声を出される。天も地もふるい動く。しかし主はその民の避け所、イスラエルの人々のとりでである。
3	17 "So you shall know that I am the Lord your God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, And no aliens shall ever pass through her again."	「そこであなたがたは知るであろう、わたしはあなたがたの神、主であって、わが聖なる山シオンに住むことを。エルサレムは聖所となり、他国人は重ねてその中を通ることがない。
3	18 And it will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord And water the Valley of Acacias.	その日もろもろの山にうまい酒がしたたり、もろもろの丘は乳を流し、ユダのすべての川は水を流す。泉は主の家から出て、シッテムの谷を潤す。
3	19"Egypt shall be a desolation, And Edom a desolate wilderness, Because of violence against the people of Judah, For they have shed innocent blood in their land.	エジプトは荒れ地となり、エドムは荒野となる。彼らはその国でユダの人々をしえたげ、罪なき者の血を流したからである。
3	20 But Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation.	しかしユダは永遠に人の住む所となり、エルサレムは世々に保つ。
3	21 For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted; For the Lord dwells in Zion."	わたしは彼らに血の報復をなし、とがある者をゆるさない。主はシオンに住まわれる」。
