ハバクク書	Habakkuk 1	1
1	1 The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw.	預言者ハバククが見た神の託宣。
1	2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, "Violence!" And You will not save.	主よ、わたしが呼んでいるのに、いつまであなたは聞きいれて下さらないのか。わたしはあなたに「暴虐がある」と訴えたが、あなたは助けて下さらないのか。
1	3 Why do You show me iniquity, And cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; There is strife, and contention arises.	あなたは何ゆえ、わたしによこしまを見せ、何ゆえ、わたしに災を見せられるのか。略奪と暴虐がわたしの前にあり、また論争があり、闘争も起っている。
1	4 Therefore the law is powerless, And justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.	それゆえ、律法はゆるみ、公義は行われず、悪人は義人を囲み、公義は曲げて行われている。
1	5 "Look among the nations and watch-- Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe, though it were told you.	諸国民のうちを望み見て、驚け、そして怪しめ。わたしはあなたがたの日に一つの事をする。人がこの事を知らせても、あなたがたはとうてい信じまい。
1	6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans, A bitter and hasty nation Which marches through the breadth of the earth, To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.	見よ、わたしはカルデヤびとを興す。これはたけく、激しい国民であって、地を縦横に行きめぐり、自分たちのものでないすみかを奪う。
1	7 They are terrible and dreadful; Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.	これはきびしく、恐ろしく、そのさばきと威厳とは彼ら自身から出る。
1	8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, And more fierce than evening wolves. Their chargers charge ahead; Their cavalry comes from afar; They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.	その馬はひょうよりも速く、夜のおおかみよりも荒い。その騎兵は威勢よく進む。すなわち、その騎兵は遠い所から来る。彼らは物を食おうと急ぐわしのように飛ぶ。

1	13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more righteous than he?	あなたは目が清く、悪を見られない者、また不義を見られない者であるのに、何ゆえ不真実な者に目をとめていられるのですか。悪しき者が自分よりも正しい者を、のみ食らうのに、何ゆえ黙っていられるのですか。
1	14 Why do You make men like fish of the sea, Like creeping things that have no ruler over them?	あなたは人を海の魚のようにし、治める者のない這う虫のようにされる。
1	15They take up all of them with a hook, They catch them in their net, And gather them in their dragnet. Therefore they rejoice and are glad.	彼はつり針でこれをことごとくつり上げ、網でこれを捕え、引き網でこれを集め、こうして彼は喜び楽しむ。
1	16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net, And burn incense to their dragnet; Because by them their share is sumptuous And their food plentiful.	それゆえ、彼はその網に犠牲をささげ、その引き網に香をたく。これによって彼はぜいたくに暮し、その食物も豊かになるからである。

2	4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.	見よ、その魂の正しくない者は衰える。しかし義人はその信仰によって生きる。
2	5 "Indeed, because he transgresses by wine, He is a proud man, And he does not stay at home. Because he enlarges his desire as hell, And he is like death, and cannot be satisfied, He gathers to himself all nations And heaps up for himself all peoples.	また、酒は欺くものだ。高ぶる者は定まりがない。彼の欲は陰府のように広い。彼は死のようであって、飽くことなく、万国をおのれに集め、万民をおのれのものとしてつどわせる」。
2	6 "Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say, 'Woe to him who increases What is not his--how long? 2	7 Will not your creditors rise up suddenly? Will they not awaken who oppress you? And you will become their booty.	あなたの負債者は、にわかに興らないであろうか。あなたを激しくゆすぶる者は目ざめないであろうか。その時あなたは彼らにかすめられる。
2	8Because you have plundered many nations, All the remnant of the people shall plunder you, Because of men's blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it.	あなたは多くの国民をかすめたゆえ、そのもろもろの民の残れる者は皆あなたをかすめる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、その中に住むすべての者に／暴虐を行ったからである。
2	9 "Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!	わざわいなるかな、災の手を免れるために高い所に巣を構えようと、おのが家のために不義の利を取る者よ。
2	10 You give shameful counsel to your house, Cutting off many peoples, And sin against your soul.	あなたは事をはかって自分の家に恥を招き、多くの民を滅ぼして、自分の生命を失った。
2	11 For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the beam from the timbers will answer it.	石は石がきから叫び、梁は建物からこれに答えるからである。
2	12 "Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, Who establishes a city by iniquity!	わざわいなるかな、血をもって町を建て、悪をもって町を築く者よ。
2	13Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?	見よ、もろもろの民は火のために労し、もろもろの国びとはむなしい事のために疲れる。これは万軍の主から出る言葉ではないか。
2	14 For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.	海が水でおおわれているように、地は主の栄光の知識で満たされるからである。
2	15 "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, Pressing him to your bottle, Even to make him drunk, That you may look on his nakedness!	わざわいなるかな、その隣り人に怒りの杯を飲ませて、これを酔わせ、彼らの隠し所を見ようとする者よ。
2	16 You are filled with shame instead of glory. You also--drink! And be exposed as uncircumcised! The cup of the Lord's right hand will be turned against you, And utter shame will be on your glory.	あなたは誉の代りに恥に飽き、あなたもまた飲んでよろめけ。主の右の手の杯は、あなたに巡り来る。恥はあなたの誉に代る。
2	17 For the violence done to Lebanon will cover you, And the plunder of beasts which made them afraid, Because of men's blood And the violence of the land and the city, And of all who dwell in it.	あなたがレバノンになした暴虐は、あなたを倒し、獣のような滅亡は、あなたを恐れさせる。これは人の血を流し、国と町と、町の中に住むすべての者に、暴虐を行ったからである。

2	19 Woe to him who says to wood, 'Awake!' To silent stone, 'Arise! It shall teach!' Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.	わざわいなるかな、木に向かって、さめよと言い、物言わぬ石に向かって、起きよと言う者よ。これは黙示を与え得ようか。見よ、これは金銀をきせたもので、その中には命の息は少しもない。
2	20 But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him."	しかし、主はその聖なる宮にいます、全地はそのみ前に沈黙せよ。

3	16 When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble.
