アモス書	Amos 1	1
1	1 The words of Amos, who was among the sheepbreeders of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.	テコアの牧者のひとりであるアモスの言葉。これはユダの王ウジヤの世、イスラエルの王ヨアシの子ヤラベアムの世、地震の二年前に、彼がイスラエルについて示されたものである。

1	5 I will also break the gate bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from the Valley of Aven, And the one who holds the scepter from Beth Eden. The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir," Says the Lord.	わたしはダマスコの貫の木を砕き、アベンの谷から住民を断ち、ベテエデンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。スリヤの民はキルに捕えられて行く」と／主は言われる。
1	6 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they took captive the whole captivity To deliver them up to Edom.	主はこう言われる、「ガザの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとく捕えて行って、エドムに渡したからである。
1	7 But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, Which shall devour its palaces.	わたしはガザの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。
1	8 I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, And the one who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; I will turn My hand against Ekron, And the remnant of the Philistines shall perish," Says the Lord God.	わたしはアシドドから住民を断ち、アシケロンから王のつえをとる者を断つ。わたしはまた手をかえしてエクロンを撃つ。そして残ったペリシテびとも滅びる」と／主なる神は言われる。
1	9 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.	主はこう言われる、「ツロの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが人々をことごとくエドムに渡し、また兄弟の契約を心に留めなかったからである。
1	10 But I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre, Which shall devour its palaces."	それゆえ、わたしはツロの石がきに火を送り、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
1	11Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because he pursued his brother with the sword, And cast off all pity; His anger tore perpetually, And he kept his wrath forever.	主はこう言われる、「エドムの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がつるぎをもってその兄弟を追い、全くあわれみの情を断ち、常に怒って、人をかき裂き、ながくその憤りを保ったからである。
1	12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, Which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah."	それゆえ、わたしはテマンに火を送り、ボズラのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
1	13 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of the people of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they ripped open the women with child in Gilead, That they might enlarge their territory.	主はこう言われる、「アンモンの人々の三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らがその国境を広げるために、ギレアデのはらんでいる女を／ひき裂いたからである。
1	14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, And it shall devour its palaces, Amid shouting in the day of battle, And a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.	それゆえ、わたしはラバの石がきに火をはなち、そのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。これは戦いの日に、ときの声をもってせられ、つむじ風の日に、暴風をもってせられる。
1	15 Their king shall go into captivity, He and his princes together," Says the Lord.	彼らの王はそのつかさたちと共に／捕えられて行く」と主は言われる。

2	1 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.	主はこう言われる、「モアブの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼がエドムの王の骨を焼いて／灰にしたからである。
2	2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, And it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth; Moab shall die with tumult, With shouting and trumpet sound.	それゆえ、わたしはモアブに火を送り、ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす。モアブは騒ぎと、ときの声と、ラッパの音の中に死ぬ。
2	3 And I will cut off the judge from its midst, And slay all its princes with him," Says the Lord.	わたしはそのうちから、支配者を断ち、そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と／主は言われる。
2	4 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have despised the law of the Lord, And have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray, Lies which their fathers followed.	主はこう言われる、「ユダの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが主の律法を捨て、その定めを守らず、その先祖たちが従い歩いた／偽りの物に惑わされたからである。
2	5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem."	それゆえ、わたしはユダに火を送り、エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を焼き滅ぼす」。
2	6 Thus says the Lord: "For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for silver, And the poor for a pair of sandals.	主はこう言われる、「イスラエルの三つのとが、四つのとがのために、わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない。これは彼らが正しい者を金のために売り、貧しい者をくつ一足のために売るからである。
2	7 They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor, And pervert the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same girl, To defile My holy name.	彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ、苦しむ者の道をまげ、また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って、わが聖なる名を汚す。
2	8 They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge, And drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.	彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに／質に取った衣服を敷いて、その上に伏し、罰金をもって得た酒を、その神の家で飲む。
2	9 "Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, Whose height was like the height of the cedars, And he was as strong as the oaks; Yet I destroyed his fruit above And his roots beneath.	さきにわたしはアモリびとを／彼らの前から滅ぼした。これはその高きこと、香柏のごとく、その強きこと、かしの木のようであったが、わたしはその上の実と、下の根とを滅ぼした。
2	10 Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And led you forty years through the wilderness, To possess the land of the Amorite.	わたしはまた、あなたがたを／エジプトの地から連れ上り、四十年のあいだ荒野で、あなたがたを導き、アモリびとの地を獲させた。
2	11 I raised up some of your sons as prophets, And some of your young men as Nazirites. Is it not so, O you children of Israel?" Says the Lord.	わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから／預言者を起し、あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した。イスラエルの人々よ、そうではないか」と／主は言われる。
2	12 "But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, And commanded the prophets saying, 'Do not prophesy!'	「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飲ませ、預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う。
2	13 "Behold, I am weighed down by you, As a cart full of sheaves is weighed down.	見よ、わたしは麦束をいっぱい積んだ車が／物を圧するように、あなたがたをその所で圧する。
2	14 Therefore flight shall perish from the swift, The strong shall not strengthen his power, Nor shall the mighty deliver himself;	速く走る者も逃げ場を失い、強い者もその力をふるうことができず、勇士もその命を救うことができない。
2	15 He shall not stand who handles the bow, The swift of foot shall not escape, Nor shall he who rides a horse deliver himself.	弓をとる者も立つことができず、足早の者も自分を救うことができず、馬に乗る者もその命を救うことができない。
2	16 The most courageous men of might Shall flee naked in that day," Says the Lord.	勇士のうちの雄々しい心の者も／その日には裸で逃げる」と／主は言われる。

3	1 Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:	イスラエルの人々よ、主があなたがたに向かって言われたこと、わたしがエジプトの地から導き上った／全家に向かって言ったこの言葉を聞け。
3	2 "You only have I known of all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities."	「地のもろもろのやからのうちで、わたしはただ、あなたがただけを知った。それゆえ、わたしはあなたがたの／もろもろの罪のため、あなたがたを罰する。
3	3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?	ふたりの者がもし約束しなかったなら、一緒に歩くだろうか。
3	4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?	ししがもし獲物がなかったなら、林の中でほえるだろうか。若いししがもし物をつかまなかったなら、その穴から声を出すだろうか。
3	5 Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all?	もしわながなかったなら、鳥は地に張った網にかかるだろうか。網にもし何もかからなかったなら、地からとびあがるだろうか。
3	6 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?	町でラッパが鳴ったなら、民は驚かないだろうか。主がなされるのでなければ、町に災が起るだろうか。
3	7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.	まことに主なる神は／そのしもべである預言者にその隠れた事を／示さないでは、何事をもなされない。
3	8 A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy?	ししがほえる、だれが恐れないでいられよう。主なる神が語られる、だれが預言しないでいられよう」。
3	9 "Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, And in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say: 'Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; See great tumults in her midst, And the oppressed within her.	アッスリヤにあるもろもろの宮殿、エジプトの地にあるもろもろの宮殿に宣べて言え、「サマリヤの山々に集まり、そのうちにある大いなる騒ぎと、その中で行われる暴虐とを見よ」と。
3	10 For they do not know to do right,' Says the Lord, 'Who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.' "	主は言われる、「彼らは正義を行うことを知らず、しえたげ取った物と奪い取った物とを／そのもろもろの宮殿にたくわえている」。
3	11 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "An adversary shall be all around the land; He shall sap your strength from you, And your palaces shall be plundered."	それゆえ主なる神はこう言われる、「敵がきて、この国を囲み、あなたの防備をあなたから取り除き、あなたのもろもろの宮殿はかすめられる」。
3	12 Thus says the Lord: "As a shepherd takes from the mouth of a lion Two legs or a piece of an ear, So shall the children of Israel be taken out Who dwell in Samaria-- In the corner of a bed and on the edge of a couch!	主はこう言われる、「羊飼がししの口から、羊の両足、あるいは片耳を取り返すように、サマリヤに住むイスラエルの人々も、長いすのすみや、寝台の一部を携えて救われるであろう」。
3	13Hear and testify against the house of Jacob," Says the Lord God, the God of hosts,	万軍の神、主なる神は言われる、「聞け、そしてヤコブの家に証言せよ。
3	14 "That in the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will also visit destruction on the altars of Bethel; And the horns of the altar shall be cut off And fall to the ground.	わたしはイスラエルのもろもろのとがを罰する日に／ベテルの祭壇を罰する。その祭壇の角は折れて、地に落ちる。
3	15 I will destroy the winter house along with the summer house; The houses of ivory shall perish, And the great houses shall have an end," Says the Lord.	わたしはまた冬の家と夏の家とを撃つ、象牙の家は滅び、大いなる家は消えうせる」と／主は言われる。

4	1 Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, Who oppress the poor, Who crush the needy, Who say to your husbands, "Bring wine, let us drink!"	「バシャンの雌牛どもよ、この言葉を聞け。あなたがたはサマリヤの山におり、弱い者をしえたげ、貧しい者を圧迫し、またその主人に向かって、『持ってきて、わたしたちに飲ませよ』と言う。
4	2 The Lord God has sworn by His holiness: "Behold, the days shall come upon you When He will take you away with fishhooks, And your posterity with fishhooks.	主なる神はご自分の聖なることによって誓われた、見よ、あなたがたの上にこのような時が来る。その時、人々はあなたがたをつり針にかけ、あなたがたの残りの者を／魚つり針にかけて引いて行く。
4	3 You will go out through broken walls, Each one straight ahead of her, And you will be cast into Harmon," Says the Lord.	あなたがたはおのおのまっすぐに／石がきの破れた所を出て、ハルモンに追いやられる」と／主は言われる。
4	4"Come to Bethel and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression; Bring your sacrifices every morning, Your tithes every three days.	「あなたがたはベテルへ行って罪を犯し、ギルガルへ行って、とがを増し加えよ。朝ごとに、あなたがたの犠牲を携えて行け、三日ごとに、あなたがたの十分の一を携えて行け。
4	5Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, Proclaim and announce the freewill offerings; For this you love, You children of Israel!" Says the Lord God.	種を入れたパンの感謝祭をささげ、心よりの供え物をふれ示せ。イスラエルの人々よ、あなたがたはこのようにするのを好んでいる」と／主なる神は言われる。
4	6 "Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says the Lord.	「わたしはまた、あなたがたのすべての町で／あなたがたの歯を清くし、あなたがたのすべての所でパンを乏しくした。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4	7 "I also withheld rain from you, When there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, And where it did not rain the part withered.	「わたしはまた、刈入れまでなお三月あるのに／雨をとどめて、あなたがたの上にくださず、この町には雨を降らし、かの町には雨を降らさず、この畑は雨をえ、かの畑は雨をえないで枯れた。
4	8 So two or three cities wandered to another city to drink water, But they were not satisfied; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says the Lord.	そこで二つ三つの町が／一つの町によろめいて行って、水を飲んでも、飽くことができなかった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4	9 "I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, Your vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says the Lord.	「わたしは立ち枯れと腐り穂とをもって／あなたがたを撃ち、あなたがたの園と、ぶどう畑とを荒した。いちじくの木とオリブの木とは、いなごが食った。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4	10 "I sent among you a plague after the manner of Egypt; Your young men I killed with a sword, Along with your captive horses; I made the stench of your camps come up into your nostrils; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says the Lord.	「わたしはエジプトにしたように／あなたがたのうちに疫病を送り、つるぎをもってあなたがたの若者を殺し、あなたがたの馬を奪い去り、あなたがたの宿営の臭気を上らせて、あなたがたの鼻をつかせた。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4	11 "I overthrew some of you, As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; Yet you have not returned to Me," Says the Lord.	「わたしはあなたがたのうちの町を／神がソドムとゴモラを滅ぼされた時のように／滅ぼしたので、あなたがたは炎の中から取り出された／燃えさしのようであった。それでも、あなたがたはわたしに帰らなかった」と／主は言われる。
4	12 "Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!"	「それゆえイスラエルよ、わたしはこのようにあなたに行う。わたしはこれを行うゆえ、イスラエルよ、あなたの神に会う備えをせよ」。

5	2 The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up.	「おとめイスラエルは倒れて、また起き上がらず、彼女はおのれの地に投げ倒されて／これを起す者がない」。
5	3 For thus says the Lord God: "The city that goes out by a thousand Shall have a hundred left, And that which goes out by a hundred Shall have ten left to the house of Israel."	主なる神はこう言われる、「イスラエルの家では、千人出た町は百人残り、百人出た町は十人残る」。
5	4 For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: "Seek Me and live;	主はイスラエルの家にこう言われる、「あなたがたはわたしを求めよ、そして生きよ。
5	5 But do not seek Bethel, Nor enter Gilgal, Nor pass over to Beersheba; For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, And Bethel shall come to nothing.	ベテルを求めるな、ギルガルに行くな。ベエルシバにおもむくな。ギルガルは必ず捕えられて行き、ベテルは無に帰するからである」。
5	6 Seek the Lord and live, Lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, And devour it, With no one to quench it in Bethel--	あなたがたは主を求めよ、そして生きよ。さもないと主は火のように／ヨセフの家に落ち下られる。火はこれを焼くが、ベテルのためにこれを消す者はひとりもない。
5	7 You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!"	あなたがた、公道をにがよもぎに変え、正義を地に投げ捨てる者よ。
5	8 He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning And makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The Lord is His name.	プレアデスおよびオリオンを造り、暗黒を朝に変じ、昼を暗くして夜となし、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる者、その名は主という。
5	9 He rains ruin upon the strong, So that fury comes upon the fortress.	主は滅びをたちまち強い者に臨ませられるので、滅びはついに城に臨む。
5	10 They hate the one who rebukes in the gate, And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.	彼らは門にいて戒める者を憎み、真実を語る者を忌みきらう。

5	13 Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.	それゆえ、このような時には賢い者は沈黙する、これは悪い時だからである。

5	19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion, And a bear met him! Or as though he went into the house, Leaned his hand on the wall, And a serpent bit him!	人がししの前を逃れてもくまに出会い、また家にはいって、手を壁につけると、へびにかまれるようなものである。
5	20 Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?	主の日は暗くて、光がなく、薄暗くて輝きがないではないか。
5	21 "I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.	わたしはあなたがたの祭を憎み、かつ卑しめる。わたしはまた、あなたがたの聖会を喜ばない。
5	22 Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.	たといあなたがたは燔祭や素祭をささげても、わたしはこれを受けいれない。あなたがたの肥えた獣の酬恩祭は／わたしはこれを顧みない。
5	23 Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.	あなたがたの歌の騒がしい音を／わたしの前から断て。あなたがたの琴の音は、わたしはこれを聞かない。
5	24 But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.	公道を水のように、正義をつきない川のように流れさせよ。

6	2 Go over to Calneh and see; And from there go to Hamath the great; Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their territory greater than your territory?	カルネに渡って見よ。そこから大ハマテに行き、またペリシテびとのガテに下って見よ。彼らはこれらの国にまさっているか。彼らの土地はあなたがたの土地よりも大きいか。

6	5 Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments, And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;	琴の音に合わせて歌い騒ぎ、ダビデのように楽器を造り出し、
6	6 Who drink wine from bowls, And anoint yourselves with the best ointments, But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.	鉢をもって酒を飲み、いとも尊い油を身にぬり、ヨセフの破滅を悲しまない者たちよ。
6	7 Therefore they shall now go captive as the first of the captives, And those who recline at banquets shall be removed.	それゆえ今、彼らは捕われて、捕われ人のまっ先に立って行く。そしてかの身を伸ばした者どもの／騒ぎはやむであろう」。
6	8 The Lord God has sworn by Himself, The Lord God of hosts says: "I abhor the pride of Jacob, And hate his palaces; Therefore I will deliver up the city And all that is in it."	主なる神はおのれによって誓われた、（万軍の神、主は言われる、）「わたしはヤコブの誇を忌みきらい、そのもろもろの宮殿を憎む。わたしはこの町とすべてその中にいる者を渡す」。
6	9Then it shall come to pass, that if ten men remain in one house, they shall die.	一つの家に十人の者が残っていても、彼らは死に、
6	10 And when a relative of the dead, with one who will burn the bodies, picks up the bodies to take them out of the house, he will say to one inside the house, "Are there any more with you?" Then someone will say, "None." And he will say, "Hold your tongue! 6	11 For behold, the Lord gives a command: He will break the great house into bits, And the little house into pieces.	見よ、主は命じて、大きな家を撃って、みじんとなし、小さな家を撃って、切れ切れとされる。
6	12 Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,	馬は岩の上を走るだろうか。人は牛で海を耕すだろうか。ところがあなたがたは公道を毒に変じ、正義の実をにがよもぎに変じた。
6	13 You who rejoice over Lo Debar, Who say, "Have we not taken Karnaim for ourselves By our own strength?"	あなたがたはロデバルを喜び、「われわれは自分の力で／カルナイムを得たではないか」と言う。
6	14 "But, behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel," Says the Lord God of hosts; "And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath To the Valley of the Arabah."	それゆえ、万軍の神、主は言われる、「イスラエルの家よ、見よ、わたしは一つの国民を起して、あなたがたに敵対させる。彼らはハマテの入口からアラバの川まで／あなたがたを悩ます」。

7	1 Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, He formed locust swarms at the beginning of the late crop; indeed it was the late crop after the king's mowings.	主なる神はこのようにわたしに示された。見よ、二番草のはえ出る初めに主は、いなごを造られた。見よ、その二番草は王の刈った後に、はえたものである。
7	2 And so it was, when they had finished eating the grass of the land, that I said: "O Lord God, forgive, I pray! Oh, that Jacob may stand, For he is small!"	そのいなごが地の青草を食い尽した時、わたしは言った、「主なる神よ、どうぞ、ゆるしてください。ヤコブは小さい者です、どうして立つことができましょう」。
7	3 So the Lord relented concerning this. "It shall not be," said the Lord.	主はこのことについて思いかえされ、「このことは起さない」と主は言われた。
7	4 Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, the Lord God called for conflict by fire, and it consumed the great deep and devoured the territory.	主なる神はこのようにわたしに示された。見よ、主なる神はさばきのために火を呼ばれた。火は大淵を焼き、また地を焼こうとした。
7	5 Then I said: "O Lord God, cease, I pray! Oh, that Jacob may stand, For he is small!"	その時わたしは言った、「主なる神よ、どうぞ、やめてください。ヤコブは小さい者です、どうして立つことができましょう」。
7	6 So the Lord relented concerning this. "This also shall not be," said the Lord God.	主はこのことについて思いかえされ、「このこともまた起さない」と主なる神は言われた。
7	7 Thus He showed me: Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand.	また主はわたしに示された。見よ、主は測りなわをもって築いた石がきの上に立ち、その手に測りなわをもっておられた。
7	8 And the Lord said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said: "Behold, I am setting a plumb line In the midst of My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.	そして主はわたしに言われた、「アモスよ、あなたは何を見るか」。「測りなわ」とわたしが答えると、主はまた言われた、「見よ、わたしは測りなわを／わが民イスラエルの中に置く。わたしはもはや彼らを見過ごしにしない。
7	9The high places of Isaac shall be desolate, And the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste. I will rise with the sword against the house of Jeroboam."	イサクの高き所は荒され、イスラエルの聖所は荒れはてる。わたしはつるぎをもって／ヤラベアムの家に立ち向かう」。
7	10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.	時にベテルの祭司アマジヤは、イスラエルの王ヤラベアムに人をつかわして言う、「イスラエルの家のただ中で、アモスはあなたにそむきました。この地は彼のもろもろの言葉に耐えることができません。
7	11 For thus Amos has said: 'Jeroboam shall die by the sword, And Israel shall surely be led away captive From their own land.' "	アモスはこのように言っています、『ヤラベアムはつるぎによって死ぬ、イスラエルは必ず捕えられて行って、その国を離れる』と」。
7	12 Then Amaziah said to Amos: "Go, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah. There eat bread, And there prophesy.	それからアマジヤはアモスに言った、「先見者よ、行ってユダの地にのがれ、かの地でパンを食べ、かの地で預言せよ。
7	13 But never again prophesy at Bethel, For it is the king's sanctuary, And it is the royal residence."	しかしベテルでは二度と預言してはならない。ここは王の聖所、国の宮だから」。
7	14 Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: "I was no prophet, Nor was I a son of a prophet, But I was a sheepbreeder And a tender of sycamore fruit.	アモスはアマジヤに答えた、「わたしは預言者でもなく、また預言者の子でもない。わたしは牧者である。わたしはいちじく桑の木を作る者である。
7	15 Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, And the Lord said to me, 'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'	ところが主は群れに従っている所からわたしを取り、『行って、わが民イスラエルに預言せよ』と、主はわたしに言われた。
7	16 Now therefore, hear the word of the Lord: You say, 'Do not prophesy against Israel, And do not spout against the house of Isaac.'	それゆえ今、主の言葉を聞け。あなたは言う、『イスラエルに向かって預言するな、イサクの家に向かって語るな』と。
7	17 "Therefore thus says the Lord: 'Your wife shall be a harlot in the city; Your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by survey line; You shall die in a defiled land; And Israel shall surely be led away captive From his own land.' "	それゆえ、主はこう言われる、『あなたの妻は町で遊女となり、あなたのむすこ、娘たちはつるぎに倒れ、あなたの地は測りなわで分かたれる。そしてあなたは汚れた地で死に、イスラエルは必ず捕えられて行って、その国を離れる』」。

8	1 Thus the Lord God showed me: Behold, a basket of summer fruit.	主なる神は、このようにわたしに示された。見よ、ひとかごの夏のくだものがある。
8	2 And He said, "Amos, what do you see?" So I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the Lord said to me: "The end has come upon My people Israel; I will not pass by them anymore.	主は言われた、「アモスよ、あなたは何を見るか」。わたしは「ひとかごの夏のくだもの」と答えた。すると主はわたしに言われた、「わが民イスラエルの終りがきた。わたしは再び彼らを見過ごしにしない。
8	3 And the songs of the temple Shall be wailing in that day," Says the Lord God-- "Many dead bodies everywhere, They shall be thrown out in silence."	その日には宮の歌は嘆きに変り、しかばねがおびただしく、人々は無言でこれを至る所に投げ捨てる」と／主なる神は言われる。
8	4Hear this, you who swallow up the needy, And make the poor of the land fail,	あなたがた、貧しい者を踏みつけ、また国の乏しい者を滅ぼす者よ、これを聞け。
8	5 Saying: "When will the New Moon be past, That we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, That we may trade wheat? Making the ephah small and the shekel large, Falsifying the scales by deceit,	あなたがたは言う、「新月はいつ過ぎ去るだろう、そうしたら、われわれは穀物を売ろう。安息日はいつ過ぎ去るだろう、そうしたら、われわれは麦を売り出そう。われわれはエパを小さくし、シケルを大きくし、偽りのはかりをもって欺き、
8	6That we may buy the poor for silver, And the needy for a pair of sandals-- Even sell the bad wheat?"	乏しい者を金で買い、貧しい者をくつ一足で買いとり、また、くず麦を売ろう」。
8	7 The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: "Surely I will never forget any of their works.	主はヤコブの誇をさして誓われた、「わたしは必ず彼らのすべてのわざを／いつまでも忘れない。
8	8 Shall the land not tremble for this, And everyone mourn who dwells in it? All of it shall swell like the River, Heave and subside Like the River of Egypt.	これがために地は震わないであろうか。地に住む者はみな嘆かないであろうか。地はみなナイル川のようにわきあがり、エジプトのナイル川のようにみなぎって、また沈まないであろうか」。
8	9 "And it shall come to pass in that day," says the Lord God, "That I will make the sun go down at noon, And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;	主なる神は言われる、「その日には、わたしは真昼に太陽を沈ませ、白昼に地を暗くし、
8	10 I will turn your feasts into mourning, And all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist, And baldness on every head; I will make it like mourning for an only son, And its end like a bitter day.	あなたがたの祭を嘆きに変らせ、あなたがたの歌をことごとく悲しみの歌に変らせ、すべての人に荒布を腰にまとわせ、すべての人に髪をそり落させ、その日を、ひとり子を失った喪中のようにし、その終りを、苦い日のようにする」。
8	11 "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord God, "That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.	主なる神は言われる、「見よ、わたしがききんをこの国に送る日が来る、それはパンのききんではない、水にかわくのでもない、主の言葉を聞くことのききんである。
8	12 They shall wander from sea to sea, And from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord, But shall not find it.	彼らは海から海へさまよい歩き、主の言葉を求めて、こなたかなたへはせまわる、しかしこれを得ないであろう。
8	13 "In that day the fair virgins And strong young men Shall faint from thirst.	その日には美しいおとめも、若い男もかわきのために気を失う。
8	14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria, Who say, 'As your god lives, O Dan!' And, 'As the way of Beersheba lives!' They shall fall and never rise again."	かのサマリヤのアシマをさして誓い、『ダンよ、あなたの神は生きている』と言い、また／『ベエルシバの道は生きている』と言う者どもは／必ず倒れる。再び起きあがることはない」。

9	1 I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and He said: "Strike the doorposts, that the thresholds may shake, And break them on the heads of them all. I will slay the last of them with the sword. He who flees from them shall not get away, And he who escapes from them shall not be delivered.	わたしは祭壇のかたわらに立っておられる主を見た。主は言われた、「柱の頭を打って、敷居を震わせ、これを打ち砕いて、すべての民の頭の上に落ちかからせよ。その残った者を、わたしはつるぎで殺し、そのひとりも逃げおおす者はなく、のがれうる者はない。
9	2 "Though they dig into hell, From there my hand shall take them; Though they climb up to heaven, From there I will bring them down;	たとい彼らは陰府に掘り下っても、わたしの手はこれをそこから引き出す。たとい彼らは天によじのぼっても、わたしはそこからこれを引きおろす。
9	3 And though they hide themselves on top of Carmel, From there I will search and take them; Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea, From there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them;	たとい彼らはカルメルの頂に隠れても、わたしはこれを捜して、そこから引き出す。たとい彼らはわたしの目をのがれて、海の底に隠れても、わたしはへびに命じて、その所でこれをかませる。
9	4 Though they go into captivity before their enemies, From there I will command the sword, And it shall slay them. I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good."	たとい彼らは捕われて、その敵の前に行っても、わたしはその所でつるぎに命じて、これを殺させる。わたしは彼らの上にわたしの目を注ぐ、それは災のためであって、幸のためではない」。
9	5 The Lord God of hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, And all who dwell there mourn; All of it shall swell like the River, And subside like the River of Egypt.	万軍の神、主が地に触れられると、地は溶け、その中に住む者はみな嘆き、地はみなナイル川のようにわきあがり、エジプトのナイル川のようにまた沈む。
9	6 He who builds His layers in the sky, And has founded His strata in the earth; Who calls for the waters of the sea, And pours them out on the face of the earth-- The Lord is His name.	主はご自分の高殿を天に築き、大空の基を地の上にすえ、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる。その名は主ととなえられる。
9	7 "Are you not like the people of Ethiopia to Me, O children of Israel?" says the Lord. "Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, The Philistines from Caphtor, And the Syrians from Kir?	主は言われる、「イスラエルの子らよ、あなたがたはわたしにとって／エチオピヤびとのようではないか。わたしはイスラエルをエジプトの国から、ペリシテびとをカフトルから、スリヤびとをキルから導き上ったではないか。
9	8 "Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob," Says the Lord.	見よ、主なる神の目は／この罪を犯した国の上に注がれている。わたしはこれを地のおもてから断ち滅ぼす。しかし、わたしはヤコブの家を／ことごとくは滅ぼさない」と主は言われる。
9	9 "For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.	「見よ、わたしは命じて、人がふるいで物をふるうように、わたしはイスラエルの家を万国民のうちでふるう。ひと粒も地に落ちることはない。
9	10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, 'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.'	わが民の罪びと、すなわち／『災はわれわれに近づかない、われわれに臨まない』と／言う者どもはみな、つるぎで殺される。
9	11 "On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old;	その日には、わたしはダビデの倒れた幕屋を興し、その破損を繕い、そのくずれた所を興し、これを昔の時のように建てる。
9	12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name," Says the Lord who does this thing.	これは彼らがエドムの残った者、およびわが名をもって呼ばれるすべての国民を／所有するためである」と／この事をなされる主は言われる。
9	13 "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.	主は言われる、「見よ、このような時が来る。その時には、耕す者は刈る者に相継ぎ、ぶどうを踏む者は種まく者に相継ぐ。もろもろの山にはうまい酒がしたたり、もろもろの丘は溶けて流れる。
9	14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.	わたしはわが民イスラエルの幸福をもとに返す。彼らは荒れた町々を建てて住み、ぶどう畑を作ってその酒を飲み、園を作ってその実を食べる。
9	15 I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the Lord your God.	わたしは彼らをその地に植えつける。彼らはわたしが与えた地から／再び抜きとられることはない」と／あなたの神、主は言われる。
