テモテへの手紙第二	2 Timothy 1	1
1	1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,	神の御旨により、キリスト・イエスにあるいのちの約束によって立てられたキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、
1	2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.	愛する子テモテへ。父なる神とわたしたちの主キリスト・イエスから、恵みとあわれみと平安とが、あなたにあるように。
1	3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,	わたしは、日夜、祈の中で、絶えずあなたのことを思い出しては、きよい良心をもって先祖以来つかえている神に感謝している。
1	4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,	わたしは、あなたの涙をおぼえており、あなたに会って喜びで満たされたいと、切に願っている。
1	5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.	また、あなたがいだいている偽りのない信仰を思い起している。この信仰は、まずあなたの祖母ロイスとあなたの母ユニケとに宿ったものであったが、今あなたにも宿っていると、わたしは確信している。
1	6Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.	こういうわけで、あなたに注意したい。わたしの按手によって内にいただいた神の賜物を、再び燃えたたせなさい。
1	7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.	というのは、神がわたしたちに下さったのは、臆する霊ではなく、力と愛と慎みとの霊なのである。
1	8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,	だから、あなたは、わたしたちの主のあかしをすることや、わたしが主の囚人であることを、決して恥ずかしく思ってはならない。むしろ、神の力にささえられて、福音のために、わたしと苦しみを共にしてほしい。
1	9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,	神はわたしたちを救い、聖なる招きをもって召して下さったのであるが、それは、わたしたちのわざによるのではなく、神ご自身の計画に基き、また、永遠の昔にキリスト・イエスにあってわたしたちに賜わっていた恵み、
1	10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,	そして今や、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの出現によって明らかにされた恵みによるのである。キリストは死を滅ぼし、福音によっていのちと不死とを明らかに示されたのである。
1	11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.	わたしは、この福音のために立てられて、その宣教者、使徒、教師になった。
1	12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.	そのためにまた、わたしはこのような苦しみを受けているが、それを恥としない。なぜなら、わたしは自分の信じてきたかたを知っており、またそのかたは、わたしにゆだねられているものを、かの日に至るまで守って下さることができると、確信しているからである。
1	13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.	あなたは、キリスト・イエスに対する信仰と愛とをもって、わたしから聞いた健全な言葉を模範にしなさい。
1	14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.	そして、あなたにゆだねられている尊いものを、わたしたちの内に宿っている聖霊によって守りなさい。
1	15 This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.	あなたの知っているように、アジヤにいる者たちは、皆わたしから離れて行った。その中には、フゲロとヘルモゲネもいる。
1	16 The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;	どうか、主が、オネシポロの家にあわれみをたれて下さるように。彼はたびたび、わたしを慰めてくれ、またわたしの鎖を恥とも思わないで、
1	17 but when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me.	ローマに着いた時には、熱心にわたしを捜しまわった末、尋ね出してくれたのである。
1	18 The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that Day--and you know very well how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus.	どうか、主がかの日に、あわれみを彼に賜わるように。――彼がエペソで、どれほどわたしに仕えてくれたかは、だれよりもあなたがよく知っている。

2	1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.	そこで、わたしの子よ。あなたはキリスト・イエスにある恵みによって、強くなりなさい。
2	2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.	そして、あなたが多くの証人の前でわたしから聞いたことを、さらにほかの者たちにも教えることのできるような忠実な人々に、ゆだねなさい。
2	3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.	キリスト・イエスの良い兵卒として、わたしと苦しみを共にしてほしい。
2	4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.	兵役に服している者は、日常生活の事に煩わされてはいない。ただ、兵を募った司令官を喜ばせようと努める。
2	5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.	また、競技をするにしても、規定に従って競技をしなければ、栄冠は得られない。
2	6 The hard-working farmer must be first to partake of the crops.	労苦をする農夫が、だれよりも先に、生産物の分配にあずかるべきである。
2	7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.	わたしの言うことを、よく考えてみなさい。主は、それを十分に理解する力をあなたに賜わるであろう。
2	8Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel,	ダビデの子孫として生れ、死人のうちからよみがえったイエス・キリストを、いつも思っていなさい。これがわたしの福音である。
2	9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.	この福音のために、わたしは悪者のように苦しめられ、ついに鎖につながれるに至った。しかし、神の言はつながれてはいない。
2	10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.	それだから、わたしは選ばれた人たちのために、いっさいのことを耐え忍ぶのである。それは、彼らもキリスト・イエスによる救を受け、また、それと共に永遠の栄光を受けるためである。
2	11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him.	次の言葉は確実である。「もしわたしたちが、彼と共に死んだなら、また彼と共に生きるであろう。
2	12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.	もし耐え忍ぶなら、彼と共に支配者となるであろう。もし彼を否むなら、彼もわたしたちを否むであろう。
2	13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.	たとい、わたしたちは不真実であっても、彼は常に真実である。彼は自分を偽ることが、できないのである」。
2	14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.	あなたは、これらのことを彼らに思い出させて、なんの益もなく、聞いている人々を破滅におとしいれるだけである言葉の争いをしないように、神のみまえでおごそかに命じなさい。
2	15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.	あなたは真理の言葉を正しく教え、恥じるところのない錬達した働き人になって、神に自分をささげるように努めはげみなさい。
2	16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.	俗悪なむだ話を避けなさい。それによって人々は、ますます不信心に落ちていき、
2	17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort,	彼らの言葉は、がんのように腐れひろがるであろう。その中にはヒメナオとピレトとがいる。
2	18who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.	彼らは真理からはずれ、復活はすでに済んでしまったと言い、そして、ある人々の信仰をくつがえしている。
2	19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."	しかし、神のゆるがない土台はすえられていて、それに次の句が証印として、しるされている。「主は自分の者たちを知る」。また「主の名を呼ぶ者は、すべて不義から離れよ」。
2	20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.	大きな家には、金や銀の器ばかりではなく、木や土の器もあり、そして、あるものは尊いことに用いられ、あるものは卑しいことに用いられる。
2	21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.	もし人が卑しいものを取り去って自分をきよめるなら、彼は尊いきよめられた器となって、主人に役立つものとなり、すべての良いわざに間に合うようになる。
2	22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.	そこで、あなたは若い時の情欲を避けなさい。そして、きよい心をもって主を呼び求める人々と共に、義と信仰と愛と平和とを追い求めなさい。
2	23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.	愚かで無知な論議をやめなさい。それは、あなたが知っているとおり、ただ争いに終るだけである。
2	24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,	主の僕たる者は争ってはならない。だれに対しても親切であって、よく教え、よく忍び、
2	25in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,	反対する者を柔和な心で教え導くべきである。おそらく神は、彼らに悔改めの心を与えて、真理を知らせ、
2	26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.	一度は悪魔に捕えられてその欲するままになっていても、目ざめて彼のわなからのがれさせて下さるであろう。

3	1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:	しかし、このことは知っておかねばならない。終りの時には、苦難の時代が来る。
3	2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,	その時、人々は自分を愛する者、金を愛する者、大言壮語する者、高慢な者、神をそしる者、親に逆らう者、恩を知らぬ者、神聖を汚す者、
3	3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,	無情な者、融和しない者、そしる者、無節制な者、粗暴な者、善を好まない者、
3	4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,	裏切り者、乱暴者、高言をする者、神よりも快楽を愛する者、
3	5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!	信心深い様子をしながらその実を捨てる者となるであろう。こうした人々を避けなさい。
3	6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,	彼らの中には、人の家にもぐり込み、そして、さまざまの欲に心を奪われて、多くの罪を積み重ねている愚かな女どもを、とりこにしている者がある。
3	7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.	彼女たちは、常に学んではいるが、いつになっても真理の知識に達することができない。
3	8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;	ちょうど、ヤンネとヤンブレとがモーセに逆らったように、こうした人々も真理に逆らうのである。彼らは知性の腐った、信仰の失格者である。
3	9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.	しかし、彼らはそのまま進んでいけるはずがない。彼らの愚かさは、あのふたりの場合と同じように、多くの人に知れて来るであろう。
3	10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,	しかしあなたは、わたしの教、歩み、こころざし、信仰、寛容、愛、忍耐、
3	11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra--what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.	それから、わたしがアンテオケ、イコニオム、ルステラで受けた数々の迫害、苦難に、よくも続いてきてくれた。そのひどい迫害にわたしは耐えてきたが、主はそれらいっさいのことから、救い出して下さったのである。
3	12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.	いったい、キリスト・イエスにあって信心深く生きようとする者は、みな、迫害を受ける。
3	13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.	悪人と詐欺師とは人を惑わし人に惑わされて、悪から悪へと落ちていく。
3	14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,	しかし、あなたは、自分が学んで確信しているところに、いつもとどまっていなさい。あなたは、それをだれから学んだか知っており、
3	15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.	また幼い時から、聖書に親しみ、それが、キリスト・イエスに対する信仰によって救に至る知恵を、あなたに与えうる書物であることを知っている。
3	16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,	聖書は、すべて神の霊感を受けて書かれたものであって、人を教え、戒め、正しくし、義に導くのに有益である。
3	17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.	それによって、神の人が、あらゆる良いわざに対して十分な準備ができて、完全にととのえられた者になるのである。
テモテへの手紙第二	2 Timothy 4	4
4	1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:	神のみまえと、生きている者と死んだ者とをさばくべきキリスト・イエスのみまえで、キリストの出現とその御国とを思い、おごそかに命じる。
4	2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.	御言を宣べ伝えなさい。時が良くても悪くても、それを励み、あくまでも寛容な心でよく教えて、責め、戒め、勧めなさい。
4	3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;	人々が健全な教に耐えられなくなり、耳ざわりのよい話をしてもらおうとして、自分勝手な好みにまかせて教師たちを寄せ集め、
4	4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.	そして、真理からは耳をそむけて、作り話の方にそれていく時が来るであろう。
4	5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.	しかし、あなたは、何事にも慎み、苦難を忍び、伝道者のわざをなし、自分の務を全うしなさい。
4	6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.	わたしは、すでに自身を犠牲としてささげている。わたしが世を去るべき時はきた。
4	7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.	わたしは戦いをりっぱに戦いぬき、走るべき行程を走りつくし、信仰を守りとおした。
4	8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.	今や、義の冠がわたしを待っているばかりである。かの日には、公平な審判者である主が、それを授けて下さるであろう。わたしばかりではなく、主の出現を心から待ち望んでいたすべての人にも授けて下さるであろう。
4	9 Be diligent to come to me quickly;	わたしの所に、急いで早くきてほしい。
4	10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica--Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.	デマスはこの世を愛し、わたしを捨ててテサロニケに行ってしまい、クレスケンスはガラテヤに、テトスはダルマテヤに行った。
4	11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.	ただルカだけが、わたしのもとにいる。マルコを連れて、一緒にきなさい。彼はわたしの務のために役に立つから。
4	12 And Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.	わたしはテキコをエペソにつかわした。
4	13 Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come--and the books, especially the parchments.	あなたが来るときに、トロアスのカルポの所に残しておいた上着を持ってきてほしい。また書物も、特に、羊皮紙のを持ってきてもらいたい。
4	14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works.	銅細工人のアレキサンデルが、わたしを大いに苦しめた。主はそのしわざに対して、彼に報いなさるだろう。
4	15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words.	あなたも、彼を警戒しなさい。彼は、わたしたちの言うことに強く反対したのだから。
4	16 At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them.	わたしの第一回の弁明の際には、わたしに味方をする者はひとりもなく、みなわたしを捨てて行った。どうか、彼らが、そのために責められることがないように。
4	17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.	しかし、わたしが御言を余すところなく宣べ伝えて、すべての異邦人に聞かせるように、主はわたしを助け、力づけて下さった。そして、わたしは、ししの口から救い出されたのである。
4	18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!	主はわたしを、すべての悪のわざから助け出し、天にある御国に救い入れて下さるであろう。栄光が永遠から永遠にわたって主にあるように、アァメン。
4	19 Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.	プリスカとアクラとに、またオネシポロの家に、よろしく伝えてほしい。
4	20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, but Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick.	エラストはコリントにとどまっており、トロピモは病気なので、ミレトに残してきた。
4	21 Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as well as Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren.	冬になる前に、急いできてほしい。ユブロ、プデス、リノス、クラウデヤならびにすべての兄弟たちから、あなたによろしく。
4	22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.	主が、あなたの霊と共にいますように。恵みが、あなたがたと共にあるように。
