1	1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,	神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロと兄弟テモテから、
1	2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	コロサイにいる、キリストにある聖徒たち、忠実な兄弟たちへ。わたしたちの父なる神から、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
1	3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,	わたしたちは、いつもあなたがたのために祈り、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神に感謝している。
1	4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;	これは、キリスト・イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対していだいているあなたがたの愛とを、耳にしたからである。

1	9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;	そういうわけで、これらの事を耳にして以来、わたしたちも絶えずあなたがたのために祈り求めているのは、あなたがたがあらゆる霊的な知恵と理解力とをもって、神の御旨を深く知り、
1	10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;	主のみこころにかなった生活をして真に主を喜ばせ、あらゆる良いわざを行って実を結び、神を知る知識をいよいよ増し加えるに至ることである。
1	11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;	更にまた祈るのは、あなたがたが、神の栄光の勢いにしたがって賜わるすべての力によって強くされ、何事も喜んで耐えかつ忍び、
1	12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.	光のうちにある聖徒たちの特権にあずかるに足る者とならせて下さった父なる神に、感謝することである。
1	13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,	神は、わたしたちをやみの力から救い出して、その愛する御子の支配下に移して下さった。
1	14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.	わたしたちは、この御子によってあがない、すなわち、罪のゆるしを受けているのである。
1	15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.	御子は、見えない神のかたちであって、すべての造られたものに先だって生れたかたである。
1	16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.	万物は、天にあるものも地にあるものも、見えるものも見えないものも、位も主権も、支配も権威も、みな御子にあって造られたからである。これらいっさいのものは、御子によって造られ、御子のために造られたのである。
1	17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.	彼は万物よりも先にあり、万物は彼にあって成り立っている。
1	18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.	そして自らは、そのからだなる教会のかしらである。彼は初めの者であり、死人の中から最初に生れたかたである。それは、ご自身がすべてのことにおいて第一の者となるためである。
1	19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,	神は、御旨によって、御子のうちにすべての満ちみちた徳を宿らせ、
1	20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.	そして、その十字架の血によって平和をつくり、万物、すなわち、地にあるもの、天にあるものを、ことごとく、彼によってご自分と和解させて下さったのである。
1	21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled	あなたがたも、かつては悪い行いをして神から離れ、心の中で神に敵対していた。
1	22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight--	しかし今では、御子はその肉のからだにより、その死をとおして、あなたがたを神と和解させ、あなたがたを聖なる、傷のない、責められるところのない者として、みまえに立たせて下さったのである。
1	23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.	ただし、あなたがたは、ゆるぐことがなく、しっかりと信仰にふみとどまり、すでに聞いている福音の望みから移り行くことのないようにすべきである。この福音は、天の下にあるすべての造られたものに対して宣べ伝えられたものであって、それにこのパウロが奉仕しているのである。
1	24 I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,	今わたしは、あなたがたのための苦難を喜んで受けており、キリストのからだなる教会のために、キリストの苦しみのなお足りないところを、わたしの肉体をもって補っている。
1	25of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God,	わたしは、神の言を告げひろめる務を、あなたがたのために神から与えられているが、そのために教会に奉仕する者になっているのである。
1	26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.	その言の奥義は、代々にわたってこの世から隠されていたが、今や神の聖徒たちに明らかにされたのである。
1	27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.	神は彼らに、異邦人の受くべきこの奥義が、いかに栄光に富んだものであるかを、知らせようとされたのである。この奥義は、あなたがたのうちにいますキリストであり、栄光の望みである。
1	28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.	わたしたちはこのキリストを宣べ伝え、知恵をつくしてすべての人を訓戒し、また、すべての人を教えている。それは、彼らがキリストにあって全き者として立つようになるためである。
1	29 To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.	わたしはこのために、わたしのうちに力強く働いておられるかたの力により、苦闘しながら努力しているのである。

2	1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,	わたしが、あなたがたとラオデキヤにいる人たちのため、また、直接にはまだ会ったことのない人々のために、どんなに苦闘しているか、わかってもらいたい。
2	2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,	それは彼らが、心を励まされ、愛によって結び合わされ、豊かな理解力を十分に与えられ、神の奥義なるキリストを知るに至るためである。
2	3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.	キリストのうちには、知恵と知識との宝が、いっさい隠されている。

2	5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.	たとい、わたしは肉体においては離れていても、霊においてはあなたがたと一緒にいて、あなたがたの秩序正しい様子とキリストに対するあなたがたの強固な信仰とを見て、喜んでいる。
2	6 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,	このように、あなたがたは主キリスト・イエスを受けいれたのだから、彼にあって歩きなさい。
2	7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.	また、彼に根ざし、彼にあって建てられ、そして教えられたように、信仰が確立されて、あふれるばかり感謝しなさい。
2	8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.	あなたがたは、むなしいだましごとの哲学で、人のとりこにされないように、気をつけなさい。それはキリストに従わず、世のもろもろの霊力に従う人間の言伝えに基くものにすぎない。

2	10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.	そしてあなたがたは、キリストにあって、それに満たされているのである。彼はすべての支配と権威とのかしらであり、
2	11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,	あなたがたはまた、彼にあって、手によらない割礼、すなわち、キリストの割礼を受けて、肉のからだを脱ぎ捨てたのである。
2	12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.	あなたがたはバプテスマを受けて彼と共に葬られ、同時に、彼を死人の中からよみがえらせた神の力を信じる信仰によって、彼と共によみがえらされたのである。

2	14having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.	神は、わたしたちを責めて不利におとしいれる証書を、その規定もろともぬり消し、これを取り除いて、十字架につけてしまわれた。
2	15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.	そして、もろもろの支配と権威との武装を解除し、キリストにあって凱旋し、彼らをその行列に加えて、さらしものとされたのである。
2	16So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,	だから、あなたがたは、食物と飲み物とにつき、あるいは祭や新月や安息日などについて、だれにも批評されてはならない。
2	17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.	これらは、きたるべきものの影であって、その本体はキリストにある。
2	18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,	あなたがたは、わざとらしい謙そんと天使礼拝とにおぼれている人々から、いろいろと悪評されてはならない。彼らは幻を見たことを重んじ、肉の思いによっていたずらに誇るだけで、

2	21 "Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,"	「さわるな、味わうな、触れるな」などという規定に縛られているのか。
2	22 which all concern things which perish with the using--according to the commandments and doctrines of men?	これらは皆、使えば尽きてしまうもの、人間の規定や教によっているものである。
2	23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.	これらのことは、ひとりよがりの礼拝とわざとらしい謙そんと、からだの苦行とをともなうので、知恵のあるしわざらしく見えるが、実は、ほしいままな肉欲を防ぐのに、なんの役にも立つものではない。

3	1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.	このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。
3	2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.	あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。
3	3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.	あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。
3	4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.	わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。
3	5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.	だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。
3	6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,	これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。
3	7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.	あなたがたも、以前これらのうちに日を過ごしていた時には、これらのことをして歩いていた。
3	8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.	しかし今は、これらいっさいのことを捨て、怒り、憤り、悪意、そしり、口から出る恥ずべき言葉を、捨ててしまいなさい。
3	9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,	互にうそを言ってはならない。あなたがたは、古き人をその行いと一緒に脱ぎ捨て、
3	10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,	造り主のかたちに従って新しくされ、真の知識に至る新しき人を着たのである。
3	11where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.	そこには、もはやギリシヤ人とユダヤ人、割礼と無割礼、未開の人、スクテヤ人、奴隷、自由人の差別はない。キリストがすべてであり、すべてのもののうちにいますのである。
3	12Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;	だから、あなたがたは、神に選ばれた者、聖なる、愛されている者であるから、あわれみの心、慈愛、謙そん、柔和、寛容を身に着けなさい。
3	13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.	互に忍びあい、もし互に責むべきことがあれば、ゆるし合いなさい。主もあなたがたをゆるして下さったのだから、そのように、あなたがたもゆるし合いなさい。
3	14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.	これらいっさいのものの上に、愛を加えなさい。愛は、すべてを完全に結ぶ帯である。
3	15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.	キリストの平和が、あなたがたの心を支配するようにしなさい。あなたがたが召されて一体となったのは、このためでもある。いつも感謝していなさい。
3	16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.	キリストの言葉を、あなたがたのうちに豊かに宿らせなさい。そして、知恵をつくして互に教えまた訓戒し、詩とさんびと霊の歌とによって、感謝して心から神をほめたたえなさい。
3	17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.	そして、あなたのすることはすべて、言葉によるとわざによるとを問わず、いっさい主イエスの名によってなし、彼によって父なる神に感謝しなさい。
3	18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.	妻たる者よ、夫に仕えなさい。それが、主にある者にふさわしいことである。
3	19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.	夫たる者よ、妻を愛しなさい。つらくあたってはいけない。
3	20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.	子たる者よ。何事についても両親に従いなさい。これが主に喜ばれることである。
3	21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.	父たる者よ、子供をいらだたせてはいけない。心がいじけるかも知れないから。
3	22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.	僕たる者よ、何事についても、肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとして、目先だけの勤めをするのではなく、真心をこめて主を恐れつつ、従いなさい。
3	23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,	何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から働きなさい。
3	24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.	あなたがたが知っているとおり、あなたがたは御国をつぐことを、報いとして主から受けるであろう。あなたがたは、主キリストに仕えているのである。
3	25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.	不正を行う者は、自分の行った不正に対して報いを受けるであろう。それには差別扱いはない。

4	1 Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.	主人たる者よ、僕を正しく公平に扱いなさい。あなたがたにも主が天にいますことが、わかっているのだから。
4	2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;	目をさまして、感謝のうちに祈り、ひたすら祈り続けなさい。
4	3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,	同時にわたしたちのためにも、神が御言のために門を開いて下さって、わたしたちがキリストの奥義を語れるように（わたしは、実は、そのために獄につながれているのである）、
4	4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.	また、わたしが語るべきことをはっきりと語れるように、祈ってほしい。
4	5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.	今の時を生かして用い、そとの人に対して賢く行動しなさい。
4	6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.	いつも、塩で味つけられた、やさしい言葉を使いなさい。そうすれば、ひとりびとりに対してどう答えるべきか、わかるであろう。
4	7 Tychicus, a beloved brother, faithful minister, and fellow servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me.	わたしの様子については、主にあって共に僕であり、また忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、あなたがたにいっさいのことを報告するであろう。
4	8 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that he may know your circumstances and comfort your hearts,	わたしが彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、わたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心に励ましを受けるためなのである。
4	9 with Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will make known to you all things which are happening here.	あなたがたのひとり、忠実な愛する兄弟オネシモをも、彼と共に送る。彼らはあなたがたに、こちらのいっさいの事情を知らせるであろう。
4	10Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him),	わたしと一緒に捕われの身となっているアリスタルコと、バルナバのいとこマルコとが、あなたがたによろしくと言っている。このマルコについては、もし彼があなたがたのもとに行くなら、迎えてやるようにとのさしずを、あなたがたはすでに受けているはずである。
4	11 and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me.	また、ユストと呼ばれているイエスからもよろしく。割礼の者の中で、この三人だけが神の国のために働く同労者であって、わたしの慰めとなった者である。
4	12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.	あなたがたのうちのひとり、キリスト・イエスの僕エパフラスから、よろしく。彼はいつも、祈のうちであなたがたを覚え、あなたがたが全き人となり、神の御旨をことごとく確信して立つようにと、熱心に祈っている。
4	13 For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.	わたしは、彼があなたがたのため、またラオデキヤとヒエラポリスの人々のために、ひじょうに心労していることを、証言する。
4	14 Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you.	愛する医者ルカとデマスとが、あなたがたによろしく。
4	15 Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house.	ラオデキヤの兄弟たちに、またヌンパとその家にある教会とに、よろしく。
4	16 Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.	この手紙があなたがたの所で朗読されたら、ラオデキヤの教会でも朗読されるように、取り計らってほしい。またラオデキヤからまわって来る手紙を、あなたがたも朗読してほしい。
4	17 And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."	アルキポに、「主にあって受けた務をよく果すように」と伝えてほしい。
4	18 This salutation by my own hand--Paul. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. Amen.	パウロ自身が、手ずからこのあいさつを書く。わたしが獄につながれていることを、覚えていてほしい。恵みが、あなたがたと共にあるように。
