1	1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:	神の御旨によるキリスト・イエスの使徒パウロから、エペソにいる、キリスト・イエスにあって忠実な聖徒たちへ。
1	2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	わたしたちの父なる神と主イエス・キリストから、恵みと平安とが、あなたがたにあるように。
1	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,	ほむべきかな、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神。神はキリストにあって、天上で霊のもろもろの祝福をもって、わたしたちを祝福し、
1	4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,	みまえにきよく傷のない者となるようにと、天地の造られる前から、キリストにあってわたしたちを選び、
1	5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,	わたしたちに、イエス・キリストによって神の子たる身分を授けるようにと、御旨のよしとするところに従い、愛のうちにあらかじめ定めて下さったのである。
1	6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.	これは、その愛する御子によって賜わった栄光ある恵みを、わたしたちがほめたたえるためである。
1	7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace	わたしたちは、御子にあって、神の豊かな恵みのゆえに、その血によるあがない、すなわち、罪過のゆるしを受けたのである。
1	8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,	神はその恵みをさらに増し加えて、あらゆる知恵と悟りとをわたしたちに賜わり、
1	9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,	御旨の奥義を、自らあらかじめ定められた計画に従って、わたしたちに示して下さったのである。
1	10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth--in Him.	それは、時の満ちるに及んで実現されるご計画にほかならない。それによって、神は天にあるもの地にあるものを、ことごとく、キリストにあって一つに帰せしめようとされたのである。
1	11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,	わたしたちは、御旨の欲するままにすべての事をなさるかたの目的の下に、キリストにあってあらかじめ定められ、神の民として選ばれたのである。
1	12that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.	それは、早くからキリストに望みをおいているわたしたちが、神の栄光をほめたたえる者となるためである。
1	13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,	あなたがたもまた、キリストにあって、真理の言葉、すなわち、あなたがたの救の福音を聞き、また、彼を信じた結果、約束された聖霊の証印をおされたのである。
1	14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.	この聖霊は、わたしたちが神の国をつぐことの保証であって、やがて神につける者が全くあがなわれ、神の栄光をほめたたえるに至るためである。
1	15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,	こういうわけで、わたしも、主イエスに対するあなたがたの信仰と、すべての聖徒に対する愛とを耳にし、
1	16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:	わたしの祈のたびごとにあなたがたを覚えて、絶えずあなたがたのために感謝している。
1	17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,	どうか、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの神、栄光の父が、知恵と啓示との霊をあなたがたに賜わって神を認めさせ、
1	18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,	あなたがたの心の目を明らかにして下さるように、そして、あなたがたが神に召されていだいている望みがどんなものであるか、聖徒たちがつぐべき神の国がいかに栄光に富んだものであるか、
1	19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power	また、神の力強い活動によって働く力が、わたしたち信じる者にとっていかに絶大なものであるかを、あなたがたが知るに至るように、と祈っている。
1	20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,	神はその力をキリストのうちに働かせて、彼を死人の中からよみがえらせ、天上においてご自分の右に座せしめ、
1	21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.	彼を、すべての支配、権威、権力、権勢の上におき、また、この世ばかりでなくきたるべき世においても唱えられる、あらゆる名の上におかれたのである。
1	22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,	そして、万物をキリストの足の下に従わせ、彼を万物の上にかしらとして教会に与えられた。
1	23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.	この教会はキリストのからだであって、すべてのものを、すべてのもののうちに満たしているかたが、満ちみちているものに、ほかならない。

2	1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,	さてあなたがたは、先には自分の罪過と罪とによって死んでいた者であって、
2	2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,	かつてはそれらの中で、この世のならわしに従い、空中の権をもつ君、すなわち、不従順の子らの中に今も働いている霊に従って、歩いていたのである。
2	3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.	また、わたしたちもみな、かつては彼らの中にいて、肉の欲に従って日を過ごし、肉とその思いとの欲するままを行い、ほかの人々と同じく、生れながらの怒りの子であった。
2	4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,	しかるに、あわれみに富む神は、わたしたちを愛して下さったその大きな愛をもって、
2	5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),	罪過によって死んでいたわたしたちを、キリストと共に生かし――あなたがたの救われたのは、恵みによるのである――
2	6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,	キリスト・イエスにあって、共によみがえらせ、共に天上で座につかせて下さったのである。
2	7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.	それは、キリスト・イエスにあってわたしたちに賜わった慈愛による神の恵みの絶大な富を、きたるべき世々に示すためであった。
2	8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,	あなたがたの救われたのは、実に、恵みにより、信仰によるのである。それは、あなたがた自身から出たものではなく、神の賜物である。
2	9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.	決して行いによるのではない。それは、だれも誇ることがないためなのである。
2	10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.	わたしたちは神の作品であって、良い行いをするように、キリスト・イエスにあって造られたのである。神は、わたしたちが、良い行いをして日を過ごすようにと、あらかじめ備えて下さったのである。
2	11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh--who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands--	だから、記憶しておきなさい。あなたがたは以前には、肉によれば異邦人であって、手で行った肉の割礼ある者と称せられる人々からは、無割礼の者と呼ばれており、
2	12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.	またその当時は、キリストを知らず、イスラエルの国籍がなく、約束されたいろいろの契約に縁がなく、この世の中で希望もなく神もない者であった。
2	13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.	ところが、あなたがたは、このように以前は遠く離れていたが、今ではキリスト・イエスにあって、キリストの血によって近いものとなったのである。
2	14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,	キリストはわたしたちの平和であって、二つのものを一つにし、敵意という隔ての中垣を取り除き、ご自分の肉によって、
2	15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,	数々の規定から成っている戒めの律法を廃棄したのである。それは、彼にあって、二つのものをひとりの新しい人に造りかえて平和をきたらせ、
2	16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.	十字架によって、二つのものを一つのからだとして神と和解させ、敵意を十字架にかけて滅ぼしてしまったのである。
2	17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near.	それから彼は、こられた上で、遠く離れているあなたがたに平和を宣べ伝え、また近くにいる者たちにも平和を宣べ伝えられたのである。
2	18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.	というのは、彼によって、わたしたち両方の者が一つの御霊の中にあって、父のみもとに近づくことができるからである。
2	19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,	そこであなたがたは、もはや異国人でも宿り人でもなく、聖徒たちと同じ国籍の者であり、神の家族なのである。
2	20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone,	またあなたがたは、使徒たちや預言者たちという土台の上に建てられたものであって、キリスト・イエスご自身が隅のかしら石である。
2	21 in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,	このキリストにあって、建物全体が組み合わされ、主にある聖なる宮に成長し、
2	22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.	そしてあなたがたも、主にあって共に建てられて、霊なる神のすまいとなるのである。

3	1 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles--	こういうわけで、あなたがた異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスの囚人となっているこのパウロ――
3	2 if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you,	わたしがあなたがたのために神から賜わった恵みの務について、あなたがたはたしかに聞いたであろう。
3	3 how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already,	すなわち、すでに簡単に書きおくったように、わたしは啓示によって奥義を知らされたのである。
3	4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ),	あなたがたはそれを読めば、キリストの奥義をわたしがどう理解しているかがわかる。
3	5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:	この奥義は、いまは、御霊によって彼の聖なる使徒たちと預言者たちとに啓示されているが、前の時代には、人の子らに対して、そのように知らされてはいなかったのである。
3	6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,	それは、異邦人が、福音によりキリスト・イエスにあって、わたしたちと共に神の国をつぐ者となり、共に一つのからだとなり、共に約束にあずかる者となることである。
3	7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.	わたしは、神の力がわたしに働いて、自分に与えられた神の恵みの賜物により、福音の僕とされたのである。
3	8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,	すなわち、聖徒たちのうちで最も小さい者であるわたしにこの恵みが与えられたが、それは、キリストの無尽蔵の富を異邦人に宣べ伝え、
3	9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;	更にまた、万物の造り主である神の中に世々隠されていた奥義にあずかる務がどんなものであるかを、明らかに示すためである。
3	10to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,	それは今、天上にあるもろもろの支配や権威が、教会をとおして、神の多種多様な知恵を知るに至るためであって、
3	11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,	わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにあって実現された神の永遠の目的にそうものである。
3	12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.	この主キリストにあって、わたしたちは、彼に対する信仰によって、確信をもって大胆に神に近づくことができるのである。
3	13 Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.	だから、あなたがたのためにわたしが受けている患難を見て、落胆しないでいてもらいたい。わたしの患難は、あなたがたの光栄なのである。
3	14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,	こういうわけで、わたしはひざをかがめて、
3	15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,	天上にあり地上にあって「父」と呼ばれているあらゆるものの源なる父に祈る。
3	16that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,	どうか父が、その栄光の富にしたがい、御霊により、力をもってあなたがたの内なる人を強くして下さるように、
3	17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,	また、信仰によって、キリストがあなたがたの心のうちに住み、あなたがたが愛に根ざし愛を基として生活することにより、
3	18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height--	すべての聖徒と共に、その広さ、長さ、高さ、深さを理解することができ、
3	19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.	また人知をはるかに越えたキリストの愛を知って、神に満ちているもののすべてをもって、あなたがたが満たされるように、と祈る。
3	20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,	どうか、わたしたちのうちに働く力によって、わたしたちが求めまた思うところのいっさいを、はるかに越えてかなえて下さることができるかたに、
3	21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.	教会により、また、キリスト・イエスによって、栄光が世々限りなくあるように、アァメン。

4	1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,	さて、主にある囚人であるわたしは、あなたがたに勧める。あなたがたが召されたその召しにふさわしく歩き、
4	2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,	できる限り謙虚で、かつ柔和であり、寛容を示し、愛をもって互に忍びあい、
4	3endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.	平和のきずなで結ばれて、聖霊による一致を守り続けるように努めなさい。
4	4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;	からだは一つ、御霊も一つである。あなたがたが召されたのは、一つの望みを目ざして召されたのと同様である。
4	5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;	主は一つ、信仰は一つ、バプテスマは一つ。
4	6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.	すべてのものの上にあり、すべてのものを貫き、すべてのものの内にいます、すべてのものの父なる神は一つである。
4	7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.	しかし、キリストから賜わる賜物のはかりに従って、わたしたちひとりびとりに、恵みが与えられている。
4	8 Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men."	そこで、こう言われている、／「彼は高いところに上った時、／とりこを捕えて引き行き、／人々に賜物を分け与えた」。
4	9 (Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?	さて「上った」と言う以上、また地下の低い底にも降りてこられたわけではないか。
4	10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)	降りてこられた者自身は、同時に、あらゆるものに満ちるために、もろもろの天の上にまで上られたかたなのである。
4	11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,	そして彼は、ある人を使徒とし、ある人を預言者とし、ある人を伝道者とし、ある人を牧師、教師として、お立てになった。
4	12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,	それは、聖徒たちをととのえて奉仕のわざをさせ、キリストのからだを建てさせ、
4	13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;	わたしたちすべての者が、神の子を信じる信仰の一致と彼を知る知識の一致とに到達し、全き人となり、ついに、キリストの満ちみちた徳の高さにまで至るためである。
4	14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,	こうして、わたしたちはもはや子供ではないので、だまし惑わす策略により、人々の悪巧みによって起る様々な教の風に吹きまわされたり、もてあそばれたりすることがなく、
4	15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--	愛にあって真理を語り、あらゆる点において成長し、かしらなるキリストに達するのである。
4	16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.	また、キリストを基として、全身はすべての節々の助けにより、しっかりと組み合わされ結び合わされ、それぞれの部分は分に応じて働き、からだを成長させ、愛のうちに育てられていくのである。
4	17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,	そこで、わたしは主にあっておごそかに勧める。あなたがたは今後、異邦人がむなしい心で歩いているように歩いてはならない。
4	18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;	彼らの知力は暗くなり、その内なる無知と心の硬化とにより、神のいのちから遠く離れ、
4	19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.	自ら無感覚になって、ほしいままにあらゆる不潔な行いをして、放縦に身をゆだねている。
4	20 But you have not so learned Christ,	しかしあなたがたは、そのようにキリストに学んだのではなかった。
4	21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:	あなたがたはたしかに彼に聞き、彼にあって教えられて、イエスにある真理をそのまま学んだはずである。
4	22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,	すなわち、あなたがたは、以前の生活に属する、情欲に迷って滅び行く古き人を脱ぎ捨て、
4	23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,	心の深みまで新たにされて、
4	24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.	真の義と聖とをそなえた神にかたどって造られた新しき人を着るべきである。
4	25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.	こういうわけだから、あなたがたは偽りを捨てて、おのおの隣り人に対して、真実を語りなさい。わたしたちは、お互に肢体なのであるから。
4	26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,	怒ることがあっても、罪を犯してはならない。憤ったままで、日が暮れるようであってはならない。
4	27 nor give place to the devil.	また、悪魔に機会を与えてはいけない。
4	28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.	盗んだ者は、今後、盗んではならない。むしろ、貧しい人々に分け与えるようになるために、自分の手で正当な働きをしなさい。
4	29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.	悪い言葉をいっさい、あなたがたの口から出してはいけない。必要があれば、人の徳を高めるのに役立つような言葉を語って、聞いている者の益になるようにしなさい。
4	30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.	神の聖霊を悲しませてはいけない。あなたがたは、あがないの日のために、聖霊の証印を受けたのである。
4	31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.	すべての無慈悲、憤り、怒り、騒ぎ、そしり、また、いっさいの悪意を捨て去りなさい。
4	32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.	互に情深く、あわれみ深い者となり、神がキリストにあってあなたがたをゆるして下さったように、あなたがたも互にゆるし合いなさい。

5	1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.	こうして、あなたがたは、神に愛されている子供として、神にならう者になりなさい。
5	2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.	また愛のうちを歩きなさい。キリストもあなたがたを愛して下さって、わたしたちのために、ご自身を、神へのかんばしいかおりのささげ物、また、いけにえとしてささげられたのである。
5	3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;	また、不品行といろいろな汚れや貪欲などを、聖徒にふさわしく、あなたがたの間では、口にすることさえしてはならない。
5	4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.	また、卑しい言葉と愚かな話やみだらな冗談を避けなさい。これらは、よろしくない事である。それよりは、むしろ感謝をささげなさい。
5	5For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.	あなたがたは、よく知っておかねばならない。すべて不品行な者、汚れたことをする者、貪欲な者、すなわち、偶像を礼拝する者は、キリストと神との国をつぐことができない。
5	6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.	あなたがたは、だれにも不誠実な言葉でだまされてはいけない。これらのことから、神の怒りは不従順の子らに下るのである。
5	7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.	だから、彼らの仲間になってはいけない。
5	8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light	あなたがたは、以前はやみであったが、今は主にあって光となっている。光の子らしく歩きなさい――
5	9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),	光はあらゆる善意と正義と真実との実を結ばせるものである――
5	10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.	主に喜ばれるものがなんであるかを、わきまえ知りなさい。
5	11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.	実を結ばないやみのわざに加わらないで、むしろ、それを指摘してやりなさい。
5	12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.	彼らが隠れて行っていることは、口にするだけでも恥ずかしい事である。
5	13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.	しかし、光にさらされる時、すべてのものは、明らかになる。
5	14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."	明らかにされたものは皆、光となるのである。だから、こう書いてある、／「眠っている者よ、起きなさい。死人のなかから、立ち上がりなさい。そうすれば、キリストがあなたを照すであろう」。
5	15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,	そこで、あなたがたの歩きかたによく注意して、賢くない者のようにではなく、賢い者のように歩き、
5	16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.	今の時を生かして用いなさい。今は悪い時代なのである。
5	17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.	だから、愚かな者にならないで、主の御旨がなんであるかを悟りなさい。
5	18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,	酒に酔ってはいけない。それは乱行のもとである。むしろ御霊に満たされて、
5	19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,	詩とさんびと霊の歌とをもって語り合い、主にむかって心からさんびの歌をうたいなさい。
5	20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,	そしてすべてのことにつき、いつも、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの御名によって、父なる神に感謝し、
5	21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.	キリストに対する恐れの心をもって、互に仕え合うべきである。
5	22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.	妻たる者よ。主に仕えるように自分の夫に仕えなさい。
5	23For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.	キリストが教会のかしらであって、自らは、からだなる教会の救主であられるように、夫は妻のかしらである。
5	24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.	そして教会がキリストに仕えるように、妻もすべてのことにおいて、夫に仕えるべきである。
5	25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,	夫たる者よ。キリストが教会を愛してそのためにご自身をささげられたように、妻を愛しなさい。
5	26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,	キリストがそうなさったのは、水で洗うことにより、言葉によって、教会をきよめて聖なるものとするためであり、
5	27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.	また、しみも、しわも、そのたぐいのものがいっさいなく、清くて傷のない栄光の姿の教会を、ご自分に迎えるためである。
5	28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.	それと同じく、夫も自分の妻を、自分のからだのように愛さねばならない。自分の妻を愛する者は、自分自身を愛するのである。
5	29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.	自分自身を憎んだ者は、いまだかつて、ひとりもいない。かえって、キリストが教会になさったようにして、おのれを育て養うのが常である。
5	30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.	わたしたちは、キリストのからだの肢体なのである。
5	31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."	「それゆえに、人は父母を離れてその妻と結ばれ、ふたりの者は一体となるべきである」。
5	32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.	この奥義は大きい。それは、キリストと教会とをさしている。
5	33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.	いずれにしても、あなたがたは、それぞれ、自分の妻を自分自身のように愛しなさい。妻もまた夫を敬いなさい。
エペソ人への手紙	Ephesians 6	6
6	1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.	子たる者よ。主にあって両親に従いなさい。これは正しいことである。
6	2"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise:	「あなたの父と母とを敬え」。これが第一の戒めであって、次の約束がそれについている、
6	3 "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth."	「そうすれば、あなたは幸福になり、地上でながく生きながらえるであろう」。
6	4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.	父たる者よ。子供をおこらせないで、主の薫陶と訓戒とによって、彼らを育てなさい。
6	5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;	僕たる者よ。キリストに従うように、恐れおののきつつ、真心をこめて、肉による主人に従いなさい。
6	6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,	人にへつらおうとして目先だけの勤めをするのでなく、キリストの僕として心から神の御旨を行い、
6	7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,	人にではなく主に仕えるように、快く仕えなさい。
6	8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.	あなたがたが知っているとおり、だれでも良いことを行えば、僕であれ、自由人であれ、それに相当する報いを、それぞれ主から受けるであろう。
6	9 And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.	主人たる者よ。僕たちに対して、同様にしなさい。おどすことを、してはならない。あなたがたが知っているとおり、彼らとあなたがたとの主は天にいますのであり、かつ人をかたより見ることをなさらないのである。
6	10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.	最後に言う。主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。
6	11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.	悪魔の策略に対抗して立ちうるために、神の武具で身を固めなさい。
6	12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.	わたしたちの戦いは、血肉に対するものではなく、もろもろの支配と、権威と、やみの世の主権者、また天上にいる悪の霊に対する戦いである。
6	13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.	それだから、悪しき日にあたって、よく抵抗し、完全に勝ち抜いて、堅く立ちうるために、神の武具を身につけなさい。
6	14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,	すなわち、立って真理の帯を腰にしめ、正義の胸当を胸につけ、
6	15and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;	平和の福音の備えを足にはき、
6	16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.	その上に、信仰のたてを手に取りなさい。それをもって、悪しき者の放つ火の矢を消すことができるであろう。
6	17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;	また、救のかぶとをかぶり、御霊の剣、すなわち、神の言を取りなさい。
6	18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--	絶えず祈と願いをし、どんな時でも御霊によって祈り、そのために目をさましてうむことがなく、すべての聖徒のために祈りつづけなさい。
6	19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,	また、わたしが口を開くときに語るべき言葉を賜わり、大胆に福音の奥義を明らかに示しうるように、わたしのためにも祈ってほしい。
6	20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.	わたしはこの福音のための使節であり、そして鎖につながれているのであるが、つながれていても、語るべき時には大胆に語れるように祈ってほしい。
6	21 But that you also may know my affairs and how I am doing, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make all things known to you;	わたしがどういう様子か、何をしているかを、あなたがたに知ってもらうために、主にあって忠実に仕えている愛する兄弟テキコが、いっさいの事を報告するであろう。
6	22whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our affairs, and that he may comfort your hearts.	彼をあなたがたのもとに送るのは、あなたがたがわたしたちの様子を知り、また彼によって心に励ましを受けるようになるためなのである。
6	23 Peace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	父なる神とわたしたちの主イエス・キリストから平安ならびに信仰に伴う愛が、兄弟たちにあるように。
6	24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.	変らない真実をもって、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストを愛するすべての人々に、恵みがあるように。
