ナホム書	Nahum 1	1
1	1 The burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.	ニネベについての託宣。エルコシびとナホムの幻の書。
1	2 God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies;	主はねたみ、かつあだを報いる神、主はあだを報いる者、また憤る者、主はおのがあだに報復し、おのが敵に対して憤りをいだく。
1	3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The Lord has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet.	主は怒ることおそく、力強き者、主は罰すべき者を決してゆるされない者、主の道はつむじ風と大風の中にあり、雲はその足のちりである。
1	4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts.	彼は海を戒めて、これをかわかし、すべての川をかれさせる。バシャンとカルメルはしおれ、レバノンの花はしぼむ。
1	5 The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.	もろもろの山は彼の前に震い、もろもろの丘は溶け、地は彼の前にむなしくなり、世界とその中に住む者も皆、むなしくなる。
1	6 Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him.	だれが彼の憤りの前に立つことができよう。だれが彼の燃える怒りに耐えることができよう。その憤りは火のように注がれ、岩も彼によって裂かれる。
1	7 The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.	主は恵み深く、なやみの日の要害である。彼はご自分を避け所とする者を知っておられる。
1	8 But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies.	しかし、彼はみなぎる洪水であだを全く滅ぼし、おのが敵を暗やみに追いやられる。
1	9 What do you conspire against the Lord? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.	あなたがたは主に対して何を計るか。彼はその敵に二度としかえしをする必要がないように／敵を全く滅ぼされる。

1	12 Thus says the Lord: "Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down When he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more;	主はこう言われる、「たとい彼らは強く、かつ多くあっても、切り倒されて絶えはてる。わたしはあなたを苦しめたが、重ねてあなたを苦しめない。
1	13 For now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart."	今わたしは彼のくびきを砕いて、あなたからとり除き、あなたのなわめを切りはなす」。
1	14 The Lord has given a command concerning you: "Your name shall be perpetuated no longer. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. 1	15 Behold, on the mountains The feet of him who brings good tidings, Who proclaims peace! O Judah, keep your appointed feasts, Perform your vows. 2	1 He who scatters has come up before your face. Man the fort! Watch the road! Strengthen your flanks! Fortify your power mightily.	撃ち破る者が／あなたに向かって上って来る。城を守れ、道をうかがえ。腰に帯せよ、大いに力を強くせよ。
2	2 For the Lord will restore the excellence of Jacob Like the excellence of Israel, For the emptiers have emptied them out And ruined their vine branches.	主はヤコブの栄えを回復して、イスラエルの栄えのようにされる。かすめる者が彼らをかすめ、そのぶどうづるを、そこなったからである。
2	3 The shields of his mighty men are made red, The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots come with flaming torches In the day of his preparation, And the spears are brandished.	その勇士の盾は赤くいろどられ、その兵士は紅に身をよろう。戦車はその備えの日に、火のように輝き、軍馬はおどる。

2	9 Take spoil of silver! Take spoil of gold! There is no end of treasure, Or wealth of every desirable prize.	銀を奪え、金を奪え。その宝は限りなく、もろもろの尊い物はおびただしい。
2	10 She is empty, desolate, and waste! The heart melts, and the knees shake; Much pain is in every side, And all their faces are drained of color.	消えうせ、むなしくなり、荒れはてた。心は消え、ひざは震え、すべての腰には痛みがあり、すべての顔は色を失った。
2	11 Where is the dwelling of the lions, And the feeding place of the young lions, Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion's cub, And no one made them afraid?	ししのすみかはどこであるか。若いししの穴はどこであるか。そこに雄じしはその獲物を携え行き、その子じしと共にいても、これを恐れさせる者はない。
2	12 The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs, Killed for his lionesses, Filled his caves with prey, And his dens with flesh.	雄じしはその子じしのために引き裂き、雌じしのために獲物を絞め殺し、獲物をもってその穴を満たし、引き裂いた肉をもってそのすみかを満たした。
2	13"Behold, I am against you," says the Lord of hosts, "I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more."	万軍の主は言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたに臨む。わたしはあなたの戦車を焼いて煙にする。つるぎはあなたの若いししを滅ぼす。わたしはまた、あなたの獲物を地から断つ。あなたの使者の声は重ねて聞かれない。

3	1 Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery. Its victim never departs.	わざわいなるかな、血を流す町。その中には偽りと、ぶんどり物が満ち、略奪はやまない。
3	2 The noise of a whip And the noise of rattling wheels, Of galloping horses, Of clattering chariots!	むちの音がする。車輪のとどろく音が聞える。かける馬があり、走る戦車がある。
3	3 Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear. There is a multitude of slain, A great number of bodies, Countless corpses-- They stumble over the corpses--	騎兵は突撃し、つるぎがきらめき、やりがひらめく。殺される者はおびただしく、しかばねは山をなす。死体は数限りなく、人々はその死体につまずく。
3	4 Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, The mistress of sorceries, Who sells nations through her harlotries, And families through her sorceries.	これは皆あでやかな遊女の恐るべき魔力と、多くの淫行のためであって、その淫行をもって諸国民を売り、その魔力をもって諸族を売り渡したものである。
3	5 "Behold, I am against you," says the Lord of hosts; "I will lift your skirts over your face, I will show the nations your nakedness, And the kingdoms your shame.	万軍の主は言われる、見よ、わたしはあなたに臨む、わたしはあなたのすそを顔の上まであげ、あなたの裸を諸民に見せ、あなたの恥じる所を諸国に見せる。
3	6 I will cast abominable filth upon you, Make you vile, And make you a spectacle.	わたしは汚らわしい物を、あなたの上に投げかけて、あなたをはずかしめ、あなたを見ものとする。
3	7 It shall come to pass that all who look upon you Will flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste! Who will bemoan her?' Where shall I seek comforters for you?"	すべてあなたを見るものは、あなたを避けて逃げ去って言う、「ニネベは滅びた」と。だれがこのために嘆こう。わたしはどこから彼女を慰める者を、尋ね出し得よう。

3	10 Yet she was carried away, She went into captivity; Her young children also were dashed to pieces At the head of every street; They cast lots for her honorable men, And all her great men were bound in chains.	しかし、これもとりことなって捕えられて行き、その子供もすべてのちまたのかどで打ち砕かれ、その尊い人々はくじで分けられ、その大いなる人々は皆、鎖につながれた。
3	11 You also will be drunk; You will be hidden; You also will seek refuge from the enemy.	あなたもまた酔わされて気を失い、あなたは敵を避けて逃げ場を求める。
3	12 All your strongholds are fig trees with ripened figs: If they are shaken, They fall into the mouth of the eater.	あなたのとりでは皆／初なりの実をもつ、いちじくの木のようだ。これをゆすぶればその実は落ちて、食べようとする者の口にはいる。
3	13 Surely, your people in your midst are women! The gates of your land are wide open for your enemies; Fire shall devour the bars of your gates.	見よ、あなたのうちにいる兵士は女のようだ。あなたの国の門はあなたの敵の前に広く開かれ、火はあなたの貫の木を焼いた。
3	14 Draw your water for the siege! Fortify your strongholds! Go into the clay and tread the mortar! Make strong the brick kiln!	籠城のために水をくめ。あなたのとりでを堅めよ。粘土の中にはいって、しっくいを踏み、れんがの型をとれ。
3	15 There the fire will devour you, The sword will cut you off; It will eat you up like a locust. Make yourself many--like the locust! Make yourself many--like the swarming locusts!	その所で火はあなたを焼き、つるぎはあなたを切る。それはいなごのようにあなたを食い滅ぼす。あなたはいなごのように数を増せ。ばったのようにふえよ。
3	16 You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of heaven. The locust plunders and flies away.	あなたは自分の商人を天の星よりも多くした。いなごは羽をはって飛び去る。
3	17 Your commanders are like swarming locusts, And your generals like great grasshoppers, Which camp in the hedges on a cold day; When the sun rises they flee away, And the place where they are is not known.	あなたの君たちは、ばったのように、あなたの学者たちは、いなごのように、寒い日には垣にとまり、日が出て来ると飛び去る。そのありかはだれも知らない。
3	18 Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; Your nobles rest in the dust. Your people are scattered on the mountains, And no one gathers them.	アッスリヤの王よ、あなたの牧者は眠り、あなたの貴族はまどろむ。あなたの民は山の上に散らされ、これを集める者はない。
3	19 Your injury has no healing, Your wound is severe. All who hear news of you Will clap their hands over you, For upon whom has not your wickedness passed continually?	あなたの破れは、いえることがなく、あなたの傷は重い。あなたのうわさを聞く者は皆、あなたの事について手を打つ。あなたの悪を常に身に受けなかったような者が、だれひとりあるか。
